Like every other woman, I’m commenting on this post. (NB: I’m not a woman, but if I preface the clause “like every other woman” to all my comment, then it will be true.)
When I was a young man (~21 yo) I was super skinny and had long blonde hair. I was your basic Tadzio and every 55+ yo pervy guy out there was Gustav von Aschenbach, except my life wasn’t a novel, it was real, and those pervs made every effort to follow, intimidate, and sexually harass me, on a daily (and sometimes hourly) basis. But you know what, “shon”? I wasn’t a woman, and am not a woman, and that wasn’t misogyny causing those men to treat me that way, and it isn’t misogyny for you, either.
Women are harassed because of sex. Transwomen are harassed because of gender. The men who want to dominate, control, and screw women don’t lump Transwomen in with Women, but with Gay Men. Both those groups are seen as men who are failing to enforce gender boundaries:, behaving effeminately, and threatening the whole Male Dominant/Female Submissive binary.
If a transwoman manages to pass as a woman, she’s “experiencing” misogyny only by proxy. If a man with a name commonly used by women gets a condescending response to his resume, he’s not experiencing misogyny; he’s finding out what it’s like to be on the receiving end.
“I have experienced some of the things that commonly afflict women, therefore I am a woman.”
Yeah righto mate… This reminds me of those sillies that claim to experience “every symptom of menstruation bar one, that means I’ve menstruated” – where the “one symptom” they don’t experience being actual goddamn menstruation.
Funny how he did not decide to “be a woman” there but instead took full advantage of the place and the privileges membership bestowed on the men there to advance his career. Guess that good old male privilege still make him blind to how he NEVER has experienced life as a woman in anything.
I’m pleased to see the anger in these comments, I think it’s exactly the right emotion. I’ve been ‘rattled’ by the incident, too, but because I’m a member of the sex (almost certainly) responsible for Sarah Everard’s murder and (definitely) responsible for women having to be afraid. Social media is full of men ridiculing or even, in the height of irony, angry at women for feeling frightened when followed too closely on an empty street by a hefty bloke. We have been told what the problem is, and we are not paying attention. Fury at men for this is the only emotion I will accept from men as legitimate.
If he had any empathy at all for women, faye would acknowledge this instead of basking in vicarious victimhood and – I am fairly sure – feeling a sexual thrill because of it.
I wasn’t a Catholic schoolboy, nor did I play Big Sports. But in 65 years of life, including my years as a slender, long-haired, ‘femme-ish’ boy, I’ve had, perhaps, THREE incidents of nasty come-ons from men, including one groping. Perhaps some of the bullying had a sexual subtext, but I was a child then.
Being six feet tall and male makes for a very different experience of the world. The predators don’t tend to show their real faces to us. I was shocked, when dealing with a man stalking my girlfriend, that no one would believe reports of his behavior…including women.

Like every other otter…
Now you have to listen to me, right? Or is it just otters that have to listen to me?

Like every other woman, Shon Fay has written a book “The Transgender Issue”. Only ONE trans issue? Wow, she’s gunna cop some flack over that.
Ah, Mister Faye. The fellow who spent time in an elite males only Catholic facility in the USA where the real women affiliated with the group only came there to clean up the messes the men made. https://www.vice.com/en/article/kwxjn9/living-with-opus-dei-student-390
