Further to my earlier post in a related thread, it’s really odd that a lot of commentators who happily shred Abramson see eye to eye with him on this one issue.
Let’s just codify into law that one punishment for rape is that people are allowed to “misgender” them. Maybe that’ll deter them more than prison, etc., since it’s my understanding that it’s literally the worst thing that could be done to them.
Abramson was a trial attorney for the New Hampshire Public Defender from 2001 to 2007. Abramson became an assistant professor of communication arts and sciences at University of New Hampshire in 2015, and was made affiliate faculty at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in 2018.[2] His teaching areas include digital journalism, post-internet cultural theory, post-internet writing, and legal advocacy.
He also does poetry. I’m assuming it’s as awful as his other writing and haven’t bothered to check it out. He’s a Berny Bro as well.
Re “misgendering” as punishment for rape: I know this was a joke, but much of the issue is about references to the rapist before conviction, and punishment only occurs after conviction. And the issue, as we all know well, isn’t “misgendering” but “accurate-sexing”, calling a man a man. And nobody seems to care about “misgendering” unless it’s a trans-identified person being “misgendered”. (I suppose calling a convicted (male) rapist “she” might be taken as a reference to the problem of rape (of men) in prison, though.)
It’s like post-modern, or perhaps modern, which could refer to “Sonate Concertate in stil moderno” from 1621 or “Modern Music” from 1781. Damn these moving targets.

Thank you for that! I’m listening to the “Sonate Concertate in stil moderno”, and I must say, I sure like this modern stuff! I wonder if post-modern music is as good.

Why is anyone defending rapists?

Skeletor, they would try to strike that down as Cruel and Unusual Punishment. (Does that disqualify a law in the UK, as it woudl int he US?)
Who is this Seth Abramson person? He sounds unhinged. I wouldn’t want him anywhere near my daughter.
Papito, here’s an extract from his wiki page.

#2 Skeletor
Or just let the rapist go free if they declare themselves trans. Better another women be raped than a single rapist be genocided.

Post-Internet Cultural Theory and Post-Internet Writing? I wasn’t aware that the internet had ended or been rejected.
I was thinking the same thing. When did the internet end? Why wasn’t I told?
The “TERF position on this” ?
Where do I go to get the latest official TERF positions? Is there a twitter feed?
Thank you for explaining who this Seth Abramson is. All of that certainly qualifies him for the position of “yeller at women on internet.”

I’m sure there was, but Twitter surely deleted the account.

OMG… [hurriedly checks quagga…]
Phew, still got 861k prefixes, looks like the internet is ok. :-P
But what about its pronouns?
