Just reverse the chronology
How these things go. Remember yesterday the Head of Diversity and Incloooosion at Harvard something Twitter-denounced an academic for “transphobic and harmful remarks”? Like so?
All very public, with names and specifics, yeah?
But it turns out Laura Simone Lewis is the injured party here. She’s a grad student, you see, and the woman she pointed out for punishment on Twitter is not.
Wait wait wait wait wait. Lewis named and shamed Hooven on Twitter, not the other way around. It’s Lewis – the shy and fragile grad student – who announced on Twitter that she’s “appalled and frustrated” by Hooven’s “transphobic and harmful” remarks. Then Hooven responded.
Then she said let’s meet offline and Lewis enthusiastically agreed. But now Heather Dingwall wants to “make it crystal clear” that somehow Hooven is bullying Lewis.
Trans bullshit seems to inspire people to argue dishonestly.
Well you see, trans and gender identity theory is right by definition and everyone disagreeing with it is wrong by definition, so all that remains is to chart a twisty logical path from any point of origin to that end. The argument doesn’t matter if you declare yourself to be on the right side of history before it becomes history.
Somewhat heartening to see that even though Dingwall restricts replies on that tweet. the replies are uniformly against her.
Good.
And twisted, as usual. It doesn’t look to me like Hooven said anything that suggested she didn’t know about gender identity or inclusivity, only that she was unaware of what she said that was ‘transphobic’. That’s what clarification she was asking for.
Yes, it looks that way to me too, and probably to all reasonable onlookers.
