Jules Gleeson and the Noxious Views
JL at the Glinner Update has details on the guy who asked Judith Butler those leading questions.
Butler has, not surprisingly, become a pin-up girl of the gender identity cult. She can always be relied upon to throw proper feminists under the bus when gender zealots like those at the The Guardian need to wheel out a talking head who has at least a veneer of academic authority.
On this occasion, Butler was interviewed by Jules Gleeson, a trans identified male.
Gleeson is the co-editor of a book called Transgender Marxism. He has written in the past about the ‘noxious views’ of lesbians trying to defend their sex-based rights and has likened gender critical feminists to religious reactionaries. He’s also called for the abolition of the family unit because it is ‘transphobic’.
JL provides several screenshots of his bullying tweets, such as –
I have to wonder why the Guardian thought he would be the right guy to interview Butler. His question that elicited the three paragraphs the Guardian deleted a few hours after publication, on the grounds of unspecified “developments”:
It seems that some within feminist movements are becoming sympathetic to these far-right campaigns. This year’s furore around Wi Spa in Los Angeles saw an online outrage by transphobes followed by bloody protests organized by the Proud Boys. Can we expect this alliance to continue?
That well is so poisoned the water is trying to climb out.
I am not aware of any anti-semitism on the part of Jennifer Bilek, she seems to be focused on big pharmaceutical companies. But even if she were, it’s a guilt by association trip, and not really all that convincing.
i, for one, don’t vet people I interview for their views on anything but the topic at hand. Should I start?
Not “transphobes.” TERFs and GC feminists are not opposed to rights for transgender people. So, not “anti-trans.” TERFs and GC feminists are rightly concerned about predatory men in women’s spaces. “Phobia” is irrational fear of something. Women and girls are rightly and rationally afraid that EXACTLY what happened at the Wi Spa is what will happen if TAs get their way. In that way, yes, I’m afraid of trans identified males. I have excellent reason to fear them.
WTF? Proud Boys had nothing to do with why women were angry about the voyeuristic sex crime committed against the women and girls in the Wi Spa. I thought that BLM organized some counter-protesters to the women who were marching at the spa, and that the BLM counter-protestors were the source of any bloody violence. AFAIK, the Proud Boys insinuation is a lie.
maddog, I thought it was antifa, not BLM. I could be wrong; since I’m not a trans-advocate, I can admit that possibility.
iknklast, you may be right.
I came across the rationale behind the accusation of “antisemitism,” but don’t remember the specific details. It relates to the several millionaires/billionaires throwing big money at trans activism. Apparently something like 3 or 4 out of 5 happen to be Jewish, so if you refer to this as top-down funding this means that you’re saying there’s a secret conspiracy of Jews taking over.
The stabber was “probably” one of the right wingers, but it’s *really* hard to tell, it’s not like stabbing is out of the black bloc wheelhouse.
“Jules Gleeson and the Noxious Views” sounds like the name of a punk band in an Afterschool Special.
It was meant to.
Maybe they thought ‘anti-semite’ was a compliment? The ‘proggies’ are so in love with HAMAS and co.
