He’d be better off saying nothing. This just reminds people that nearly half a million Americans died of COVID-19 on his watch, while he did fuck all, or worse. I’ve seen people posting “ONE YEAR AGO TODAY!” reminders on Twitter of the stupid, minimizing, murderous shit Trump spouted as the virus ramped up. If he were still in the White House, he would be screwing over blue states, and Democratic mayors, while simultaneously trying to figure out ways to personally profit from the vaccines and, like he’s doing in this very statement, take credit for the work of others.
The return to relative political normalcy in the US just highlights the ignorant, malignant sociopathy of the previous “administration” when putrid reminders of it like this one are plopped before us. That’s what I’m remembering, Mr. Trump. I am so looking forward to his perp walk. At this point, I really don’t care what it’s for, mass murder, corruption or jaywalking. The only orange I want to see him in now is a prison jumpsuit.
Something in the back of my mind always niggled me about Trump. Something was not quite right with the man, a piece of him was missing.
I have finally figured it out – the “me me me”, the neediness, the pointless put downs and name calling, the lack of respect for women, the inability to do anything except make grandiose speeches about nothing –
Donald J Trump is the USA’s first Trans-President.
On a related note, I will be receiving my first shot tomorrow morning! Even after our governor decided to move everyone else above front line workers, and moved those with co-morbidities to the back of the line, my school came through, and we are being vaccinated.
I’m a full time lurker & occasional commenter here, and I value your contributions tremendously. This is great news! I am ridiculously lucky to have completed my 2-shot vaccination (as an employee of a cancer center that has done an awesome job of vaccinating >90% of their employees), even though I can work from home very easily. I would have given up my opportunity in a second to my wife, who is a teacher in an in-person high school teaching position. She recently waited in line for 4 hours for her first dose (outside, in the cold) for a first-come-first-served vaccination event in Philadelphia (trying to prioritize, for a change, Black Philadelphians but allowing for all city residents in the PA “1b” group). It makes no sense that I was considered more at risk than she was – with all of the loud debates about the need to get students in the classroom, vaccination of teachers has been seriously undervalued. Anyway, I’m very happy for you & hope there’s a great weight off your shoulders after the second dose (even the first one confers serious protection).
Magically, single handedly. All he used was his Tinkerbell wand. His pal Pootie’s regime was faster to develop a vaccine, but we should instead look at the comparison between him and some non existent leader who, in some twisted alternate reality, could have been less competent than him? In a pig’s eye, dipshit.
Good news about your first shot, iknklast! I got mine a week ago, thanks to my asthma; our (now adult) kids already got their shots because they work with the public.
One thing Arlington (VA, that is) did right was to vaccinate teachers early, so now kids can be back in the classroom, though they’re taking a hybrid approach (and our high school senior prefers to stay home).
Is this what moderately competent government looks like?
I will be receiving my first shot tomorrow morning!
Excellent! I’m not sure when I’m getting one. There are plenty of people ahead of me in more need and at higher risk, so I’m a bit farther down the list. Looking forward to it, though Bill Gates might find the data I generate confusing, as I use Windows at work and Mac at home. If Macs don’t get infected by viruses as easily, does that mean I’m already safe?
As well as the approach of spring, with snow drops and crocuses showing their heads, birds making nests and the great rush of light, not having Trump on the news and not hearing his hideous voice has lightened my heart.
Great everyone getting vaccines. I had my first one a few weeks ago – I slept for a couple of days afterwards and then recovered. People getting the vaccine were in an almost holiday mood – cheery, chatting to strangers.
What a Maroon, yeah, I was originally scheduled in a higher group because of my asthma. Our governor said since people 75 and over were 80% of the deaths, he was prioritizing age. I have no problem with that…except…the other 20%, he said, were primarily people with other conditions, and he moved them down the line, while moving those 60-75 higher.
Teachers got moved way down the line; I suppose because the NEA supported his opponent? Nevertheless, our school, even while denying we have a problem at the school, managed to work with our county health department. The line this morning was full of familiar faces, ones that I haven’t seen since they sent us home a year ago. The other college in our town was present and accounted for, too. I am feeling good about the whole thing, since my second shot is already scheduled. I may be able to return to on-campus work about the time the semester is almost over.
The desperation, the neediness, it fairly leaps off the page.
Off his rocker and delusional is more what I had in mind, but I guess that’s just me… ;-)

Yick. I was hoping we could forget about him.

I thought this was a joke. This is not a joke?

Papito @8,
Yes?
