Interesting thing here to me is that it appears that Miller largely won in the lower court as to the actions taken against him personally. He appealed and won on his challenge to the policy generally. Kudos to him for continuing to fight on for the broader principle when he could have declared victory and bowed out.
I was impressed that Mr Miller continued the fight to the end. I’m delighted with his victory. I hope this means that the guidelines under which the police have been acting will come under greater scrutiny, and amended so such overreach cannot happen again.
This victory also means, I hope, that all similar actions taken by police forces throughout the UK will be reviewed and their targets exonerated.
