Erratic behavior
Should Trump get intelligence briefings?
Uh, no. He shouldn’t have been getting them for the past four years and he sure as hell shouldn’t be getting them now.
President Joe Biden said that former President Donald Trump should not receive intelligence briefings even though they typically have been given to other former presidents.
Biden told CBS News in an interview that Trump was “unfit to be president” and his “erratic behavior” is why he should [not] have access to the nation’s classified information.
…
Biden added, “I just think that there is no need for him to have the intelligence briefings. What value is giving him an intelligence briefing? What impact does he have at all, other than the fact he might slip and say something?”
You might as well give intelligence briefings to Champ and Major. At least they wouldn’t do any harm.
I’m impressed. I sort of expected that Biden would say “oh no, we’re not going to single him out and deny him briefings,” and adhere to that in only the most technical sense — meaning that Trump would get “intelligence briefings” that consist of a single page with lots of pictures that contains nothing that is actually confidential or sensitive. That way, Biden avoids being criticized as “divisive,” Trump happily brags to his friends (wait, he doesn’t have friends, make that his hangers-on) that he has sooper duper top secret info, while in reality he’s being “briefed” on things he could have found on Wikipedia. (“Mr. President, our intelligence suggests that there is going to be a new prime minister in Italy. Also, we’ve learned that Prince Charles will likely be the next King of the United Kingdom. Our forecasters are not sure who will win the Super Bowl, but it’s likely to be either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.”)
That would have been a politically expedient thing to do. I’m glad he’s just doing the obviously correct thing instead. Trump doesn’t deserve courtesies or to be spared embarrassment.
I would have thought that too if asked. Well done Biden. (My intransigence about the Hunter issue isn’t because I’m disliking Biden. He’s being way less compromisey than I expected.)
Heck, Champ and Major might actually be useful. Dogs are very good at security. Thanks to my dog, the invisible man has never once gotten any closer to our house than the sidewalk…though I must admit, he does apparently walk past an awful lot.
Some dogs are more productive than others. Mine prefers to stand night vigil under any tree that has a possum in it, silently staring and hoping it comes down to her level so that she can make friends with / eat it. Happily, none have come down to take that gamble.
Does your invisible man lie in the sky? And have a list of ten things he does not want you to do? And need money? :)
Brian, I applaud all George Carlin references. May Joe Pesci bestow his blessings upon you.
