Did you know other people disagree?
Genius is still at it.
Ulrika in York is a Twitter comrade; she gives him a good pasting, and he keeps coming back with “Yes but other people disagree!!”
You don’t say. What the hell does he think we’ve been doing all this time? We know other people disagree, and that they’ve been dismantling women’s rights because they disagree, and that’s why we’re fighting back.
Other people always disagree. That doesn’t mean they’re right. People can be wrong about things. You’d think talk radio personalities would be well aware of this if anyone is.
But maybe we should side with the people who disagree, because they are so much more marginalized than women are?
That seems to be James Max’s belief. Guess what: he’s wrong.
How to succeed at talk radio 101. — Be ignorant, don’t do your own research. + Take a hard line on your uninformed views. + Insult people, either directly or indirectly. + Be judgemental about those smarter and more informed than you. + Be prepared to say you were joking, or alternately sweep your previous stupidness under the rug. + Try to piss people off in a passive aggressive way. + Push people to their limits of civility if at all possible, then mock them. + Seek attention whether bad or good, as there is no such thing as bad press. + Never (ever) honestly admit you’re wrong or offer an honest apology, always mealy mouth these things if they become necessary. + Above all, be a loudmouth because your opinion matters more than anyone else’s.
This formula also works for ‘news’ hosts, politicians, twitter trolls, etc. :P
It’s worked for Joe Rogan, twiliter, so it’s a good formula for podcasts, too.
Ulrike is one of my favourite people on Twitter. She’s also the woman who broke the news about Oxfam pulling that bingo game celebrating ‘wonderwomen’ because it was insufficiently inclusive of all genders.
