Changed eligibility rules
A Scot has made history by becoming the first transgender woman golfer to win a professional tournament in the US.
That’s not making history, it’s cheating. Different thing.
Ayrshire-born Hailey Davidson claimed victory in a mini-tour event at Providence Golf Club in Polk County, Florida.
Hailey, 28, was finally given the green light to compete in National Women’s Golf Association events after the United States Golf Association and the Ladies Professional Golf Association changed eligibility rules to make it easier for trans athletes to compete.
That is, after the United States Golf Association and the Ladies Professional Golf Association changed eligibility rules to make it easier for men to cheat by competing against women.
Hailey said she “finally feels whole” after undergoing gender reassignment surgery in January after being on hormone therapy since September 24, 2015 – a date that is tattooed on her right forearm.
She said: “Opposition to transgender women playing in female sport irritates me due to most being based on societal stereotypes and not actual facts and real athlete experiences.”
Men playing in female sport irritates me because it’s grossly unfair to the women.
Who would have guessed that body size is a societal stereotype? I guess I only perceive my husband as taller because of stereotypes…
The rule should be: ‘If you’ve got a donger, the mens’ event is where you belonga.’
Hope it catches on. (And critics may jeer away; and sneer their heads off even, but I think it’s good for my first try.)
Why can’t it be both?
But Omar @2, he has reportedly had his man stuff chopped off, or maybe I don’t understand ‘gender reassignment surgery’? It is a good rule though, as many of the cheaters simply don wigs and makeup, and wouldn’t dare part with their precious dongers.
Anyway, if a man is competing, then it’s no longer a women’s event.
It is rather amusing to see him invoking real athlete experiences as somehow being authoritative and supportive of his argument, presumably because the only experience he is actually referring to is his own.
“Gender reassignment surgery”. That’s when a surgeon slices you open and tinkers with your magical inner gender essence, right?
Catwhisperer:
I think they inject pink or blue dye into the patient’s soul as appropriate. Perhaps they add glitter if the soul is non-binary. I don’t know, I’m a software developer, not a surgeon, damnit.
Golf, archery, shooting, maybe chess… competitions where a male body might not be that much of an advantage. Funny we aren’t seeing floods of trans-athletes in those sports. And, no one seems to be addressing all the trans-MEN whose ‘right to sport’ is effectively denied.
I wonder if going after the sponsors might be worthwhile? It may be too soon in the United States, but in the UK, with Stonewall making headlines it would rather not see, there’s blood in the water and people are starting to ask questions.
Golf has been infiltrated. I think men still have an advantage in golf (longer drives?) and archery (stiffer bows?). But there are sports where women would have an advantage, or at least no disadvantage. I can’t see a male advantage in rifle shooting or chess, and I suspect some equestrian events benefit from having a smaller rider.
The PGA does not actually limit tournaments to men, and some women have played, none doing very well.
Iatsot – but what is a soul (or gender) if not human software?
Catwhisperer:
I know you’re not serious, but I started writing about how minds are not closely analogous to software (because the comparison annoys me and I’ll take any opportunity to complain about it). But then I stopped to think about it and decided you might be right. While minds aren’t software, perhaps ‘gender’ is.
