An absolute breath of fresh air
Ah yes good old Al Jazeera. Qatar is notoriously queer-friendly right?
Yes it’s a “trans panic” to think women shouldn’t be erased from the language and shoved aside by men pretending to be women.
Oh damn, so sorry about all the bad faith arguments!
Ah yes. The bad faith arguments.
GC: “Wouldn’t predatory men take advantage of ‘self-ID’?”
TRA: “You want to KILL me don’t you?!?!?”
Even among those who might be considered “legitimate” and not “taking advantage of self-ID”, there is no reason to assume they are harmless.
Transgender women exhibit a male-type pattern of criminality: Implications for legislators and policy makers.
And of course another of the lies: never be able to talk about it so long in the UK? That’s bullshit, and she should know it. No matter what the conversation is about, they turn it to a trans issue and claim transphobia. The climate is warming? It’s the fault of the transphobes not allowing trans women time to work on it. Children dying in Africa because of famine and malaria? Oh, but how many of those children are trans, and are being denied proper medical care?
And, of course, there is always the spectre of “misgendering”.
Sackbut,
I’m happy you shared that link. It provides hard evidence for something I commented on a while ago; – the discrepancy between women and trans-women with regards to the propensity to commit sexual assault. ( I also mentioned how only 1-3% of women are exlusively same-sex attracted — according to studies and surveys, but trans-women or TRA’s don’t believe sex exists, or they talk about “gender attraction” and the whole convoluted mess of incoherent, contradictory, meaningless arguments makes it painful to even think about.)
But to clarify my original comment (in case there was any confusion) the TRA’s say even mentioning the possibility that a predatory, self-identifying “CIS” male would be able to take advantage of self-ID was apparently enough to get one condemned as a TERF. (As Maria MacLachlan found out.)
There is only one argument, and it isn’t even an argument; it’s a brute fact: sex is real. It’s not “bad faith” to point out brute facts.
