It’s like going to HR to complain about a conversation you overhead where coworkers were talking about someone really nosy who eavesdrops all the time.
I don’t want him to lose his job, just be aware of consequences = I want people to make his life as miserable as possible, which is one reason I am posting this on Twitter. Let the dogpile begin.
I suspect they’re starting to realize that costing people jobs over what, to most people, are minor personal disagreements is starting to build sympathy for the GC victims. People are beginning to realize this isn’t about trans rights, but about narcissistic trans demands for special privileges, beyond even what they received as males.
So it boils down to: someone I work with (but don’t even interact with regularly) signed a letter that was also signed by some people who hold views I don’t like. Now I don’t feel safe at work.
An adult should be ashamed to write that. I cannot fathom publishing that as an open letter. Hopefully other publishers read it and take note that Van der Werff is a person you should never hire. Not because she’s trans, but because she’s a disingenuous, litigious shit.
Ahhhh but if you’re a disingenuous, litigious shit AND TRANS…
…well you know the rest. That changes EVERYTHING.
I jest but that is in fact how this works. Rhetoric and actions that everyone would see as grotesque and non-adult are treated as the ultimate in wokitude if the perp is trans. It’s a big part of why the whole thing is so jaw-dropping and disorienting.
Shorter Mr. Van Der Werff:
Me.
Mememememe
Memememememe.
Me.
Too funny how well the shoe fits.

He feels “less safe.” Signing that letter then was a threat, an introduction of violence into the workplace.
Not that it shouldn’t be allowed, of course — I’m not saying that. If you’re thinking that, then so be it.

Of course VanDerWerff wants Singal punished. That was the whole point of that letter and Tweet.
Time to queue up Elton John’s “I’ve Seen That Movie, Too”
