What a turnout
Does it make sense to call it a “peaceful protest” – let alone “incredibly” peaceful – when many or most of the people protesting are conspicuously carrying guns?
No, it doesn’t. A large gathering of men carrying assault rifles is a threat, a visible calculated threat, aka terrorism.
Threats are not “peaceful” and guns are not not-threats.
Incredible peaceful: no one got shot.
Just goes to show yet again: guns don’t kill people, and open carry don’t kill people neither. It’s God-fearin’ down to Earth regular folks who can’t shoot back when fired on and ambushed walkin’ down Main Street who gits kilt, and it’s all down to them commies, fancy women, devil worshippers and muzzleims in Washington. Come a day when I just might load up my open-carry bazooka and let ’em all have it.
Now where was I?
Was wondering if that state of emergency would do anything… Guess not.
If you look at the laws Virginia is proposing, they are not even hinting at banning all gun ownership. Virginia is not looking to take away everyone’s guns, despite Trump’s continued shit talking and instigating. The red flag law would let the authorities take away the guns of suspected criminals, a step they already take! The law saying that you can only buy one handgun a month is a joke, how many do you need? Background checks? Yes please, let’s not let just anyone buy them, really, it’s absurd. The other one banning guns at public events actually prohibits local ordinances from imposing their own gun restrictions!! The reaction and turnout was way over the top, it was just an excuse for the gun totin’ yahoos to have a big party, a big. scary. party. I would have been very peaceful there, quietly getting the hell out of town.
One of those guns was a .50 cal sniper rifle. That’s not a weapon for personal self-defense at home or on the street – it’s much too heavy. It’s a “my barrel is longer than yours” weapon.
I hate these assholes. There are plenty of them here in Washington, too.
Where are all the black people? The Indians? Didn’t they get an invite.
How very exclusionary.
Re the one gun per month law: Virginia originally passed that law in 1993. At the time the Commonwealth was a major source for gun runners up the east coast–they would buy multiple guns in Virginia and then resell them in DC or NYC. After the law was passed, that stream pretty much dried up, to the point where gun nuts argued that it was no longer needed. And so under the last gop governor the law was repealed in 2012. Starting around 2016, there was an increase in the rate of guns purchased in VA being used in out-of-state crimes.

What’s incredible is that they haven’t broken out in firefights on every corner.
