Again.
Do we see a lot of “The last thing the world needs right now is another rich black entitled man doing his learning out loud”?
No, because it would jar, because the other adjectives convey privilege, but black doesn’t.
But somehow we’ve decided it’s fitting to use privilege adjectives to pick out uppity women who dare to say things. Even when we are such women ourselves.
Also when did Rowling ever say that black lives don’t matter? Or that all lives matter or that white lives matter? When did she ever say that indigenous lives don’t matter?
I don’t know, but I’m betting never. I’m betting Gadsby just threw those in there to imply things without spelling them out. Shitty behavior.
She also didn’t say trans lives don’t matter either, more like the opposite.
This is the sort of “condemnation for timing” thing I was talking about a few posts ago. The fact that gender recognition changes are currently being debated/discussed/rammed through the Scottish Parliament (as was pointed out in your post on “Things that are the product of human imaginations”), and that Rowlings posts on the rights of girls and women are connected with that discussion, are facts that are conveniently left out of the TA narrative. I wonder why that is….
I don’t think I’m wrong in saying that the pile-on response is far more persuasive than Rowling’s essay just probably not in the way those “activists” intend…
We all know that saying “Black lives matter” does not entail (and is not meant to suggest) that only Black people’s lives matter. As people on the left have to explain over and over. It’s a demand, a reminder, a rebuke. Which is, of course, why saying “All lives matter” is such a missing-the-point response.
Yet when Rowling says, “The lives and experiences of girls and woman matter,” she’s hit with “Oh yeah?? Well, I’ll have you know that trans lives matter!”
I am thinking of all the “be nice to get along” people out there who have had no grief from the trans cult personally but who are now noticing how a pretty sane and reasonable stance taken by a children’s books author is being greeted by the new left………….and wondering “who will know?” if they vote for Trump this November.
But but but, JKR didn’t anywhere say that trans lives don’t matter.
I absolutely adore this form of social media moral posturing where the poster jumps in and regurgitates a slogan or two. It’s even more betterer how it’s leapt from my screen and into the real world. /s
Hell, it doesn’t even mean black lives, but rather capital-B Black lives, although most people don’t notice the shell game. “All lives matter” is an appropriate response to “Black lives matter”, but it’s brain-dead at best and racist more likely as a response to “black lives matter”.
A lesbian siding with the team that wants males to enter lesbianism. Sigh.
I was having a conversation about this recently. The idea was we need to adopt the language exactly the way they want it so they will be our allies (because, of course, no one has the obligation to accommodate us for us to be allies). I tried to get through to my young friend that this wouldn’t work. These are not people who will be your allies. The moment you get the mantra, the chakra, the chant, the words…the moment you wear the right clothes and date the right people and allow anyone to have sex with you even if you don’t like them because you don’t want to be a bigot…the moment you get it “right”, it changes.
Because they are not allies for anybody. They are not interested in making the world better. They are interested in being more righteous, more woke, more saved (oops, wrong religion), than you. It is about them…how much can they look down on you, call you a TERF, a bitch, a cunt, a Karen? How far above you are they in McWoke World? That is their only interest…being the top of the pinnacle, and if you reach it, they do not embrace you as an ally and a friend, they simply move it several feet away, and call you hateful things because all the most important things, the best words, the wokest dogma, will change the second you memorize it. And what you learned is now hate speech. It’s TransOrwellian.

What feeling dealing with the Woke Stasi causes for me is a, how to put it? A desire that if I have to have enemies, better the devils I know than the devils I don’t know. I know what the right wing wants, I know what the traditional religions want and I know how they can be resisted or dealt with. I know which of their demands come from a rational place and what comes from irrational places. I have known them all my life and know that many of them share a lot of my values and I can co-exist with most of them.
The Woke Stasi and the Gender Woowoos are another thing. Like you said, the goalposts are in constant motion, the lying never stops and the misogynistic fury just keeps getting more horrid with time. The demands for total obedience to the changes-by-the-hour demands are exhausting. And I am really not sure where the insanity tops out with them or whether they will decide to carry out their threats of violence soon. All I know is I am too free to kneel and too well-armed to be made to kneel easily, so, where it goes from here is totally up to them.
@iknklast Thank you, I probably did kind of get this but it came into focus from what you wrote. Part of the game is to get you to say the things, but the more important part is to keep the goalposts moving–because it’s no fun for them if you actually do agree with them and accept their language/premises/ideology, the fun part is that they’re superior to you.
It also seems to me similar to forcing women to do more and more extreme things-you used to have to have a boob job to be acceptable, now you have to have your labia done. You used to have to shave your legs, now you have to shave your vulva. You used to have to be willing to have vaginal sex, now you have to be into anal and choking. Once they get what they want they have to keep ratcheting it up because it’s the demanding part that’s fun, not the actual demand itself.
Oh, good point, I hadn’t thought of that. REALLY good point.
“Doing her learning out loud,” eh?
If you read anything JKR wrote, you’d know that she already did all her learning privately, before she wrote, by life experience, years of work, and extensive study of the topics. What a contemptuous, condescending lie.
Stick your head over the parapet if you must, but expect to get shot:
Black lives matter.
Trans lives matter.
Indigenous lives matter.
You say you are only stating the obvious, but you entirely left out one of the most obvious, most basic ones:
Women’s (and girls’) lives matter.
How did you miss that one? Only half the world, who are treated every single day all over the globe as if their lives don’t matter?
