It should also be noted that Dr Asteriti’s ‘pinned tweet’, visible in the attached image, claims that ‘trans women are men’, a claim which, as has recently been demonstrated in a high court ruling in the United Kingdom, was found by judges to be ‘not worthy of respect in a democratic society’
Well, for one thing, the Guardian article that the critic linked says it was one judge (not judges), and James Tayler was an employment judge (and I’m not sure that’s a high court).
But more important to me, the ‘pinned tweet’ has a hashtag #TransWomenAreMales (which is a fact), not ‘trans women are men’ (as the critic misquoted).
The critic bullshitting reminds me of an article about “moral narcissism” posted in July 2016, and I added my emphasis to this quote from the article:
Like Narcissus of Greek mythology — mesmerized by his reflection in water, the handsome hunter gazed longingly upon his image until he died — human beings have always been susceptible to the psychological malady we call narcissism.
Distinctive to our era, according to Simon, is a special form of the general personality disorder. In the case of “moral narcissism,” he writes, “What you believe, or claim to believe or say you believe — not what you do or how you act or what the results of your actions may be — defines you as a person and makes you ‘good.'” The incidence of moral narcissism, he contends, has reached epidemic proportions.
The critic does not care about being wrong on the facts I noted. The critic is a bullshitter in the sense of the Harry Frankfurt book, On Bullshit. A liar cares about the truth, and tries to mislead you about the truth. A bullshitter does not care about the truth. The bullshit is all for effect.
I can’t find this piece Asteriti is accused of writing where she calls for trans parents to lose custody of their kids. I mean, if its true I side with the students on this one, that crosses some serious lines, but part of the problem with TRA is the sheer degree of lying, so I don’t know if it is actually true.
I don’t know. If the parents are the ones driving “transition,” and gung-ho for medicalizing their kids into puberty blockers or amputations, maybe the kids should be supervised or cared for by someone who can help the kids love themselves as they are.
This nonsense will only be stopped by people putting on their big boy or big girl underwear and telling the mob to fuck right off.
Unfortunately, we have created a society of people who either are afraid to stand up to this or are convinced that capitulation is moral.
Les sigh. To quote G’Kar from Babylon 5, “Weep for the future. Weep for us all.”

Did Dr. Asteriti actually say that transgender parents should have their children ‘taken away’? She doesn’t deny it in her response.
