They’ve decided to stop at nothing
Trump did a coronavirus briefing yesterday.
THE PRESIDENT: Well, thank you very much, and good afternoon. Today, I want to provide an update on our response to the China virus and what my administration is doing to get the outbreak in the Sun Belt under control. It seems largely in Sun Belt but could be spreading.
First sentence in and he goes with “China virus.” We should start calling him the Queens virus.
He says they’re all very sad about the virus.
My administration will stop at nothing to save lives and shield the vulnerable, which is so important.
Oh? That will make a change. They’ve stopped at a fuck of a lot of thing up to now. They’ve stopped at wearing masks, telling people to wear masks, not holding rallies, taking advice from Fauci, helping Fauci inform the public, testing, masks, locking down – and many more. They’ve stopped and stopped and stopped. Why should we believe they’re going to stop at nothing now?
The China virus is a vicious and dangerous illness, but we’ve learned a great deal about it and who it targets. We are in the process of developing a strategy that’s going to be very, very powerful. We’ve developed them as we go along. Some areas of our country are doing very well; others are doing less well. It will probably, unfortunately, get worse before it gets better — something I don’t like saying about things, but that’s the way it is. It’s the way — it’s what we have. If you look over the world, it’s all over the world, and it tends to do that.
No, if you look over the world, you see that many other countries have done far better at holding the numbers down than we have. You see that we are among the worst.
He took a few questions. One that was not about any virus got a lot of attention.
Q And my follow-up — my second question; it’s a little bit different topic, but it’s one that a lot of people are talking about. Ghislaine Maxwell is in prison, and so a lot of people want to know if she’s going to turn in powerful people. And I know you’ve talked in the past about Prince Andrew, and you’ve criticized Bill Clinton’s behavior. I’m wondering, do you feel that she’s going to turn in powerful men? How do you see that working out?
THE PRESIDENT: I don’t know. I haven’t really been following it too much. I just wish her well, frankly. I’ve met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach and I guess they lived in Palm Beach. But I wish her well, whatever it is. I don’t know the situation with Prince Andrew. I just don’t know. I’m not aware of it.
The girls who were groomed into sex toys for Jeffrey Epstein and his buddies including Andy Windsor? Any thoughts on them?
…and is Trump on that list of powerful men? I hope she’s being held somewhere REALLY secure.
At least he knows there are enough photos of him with Maxwell to avoid his usual “I never met him/her. I barely know him/her” response. I’ve already seen it intrepreted online as a message to her from Trump to stay silent and he’ll pardon her!
If he thinks he’s going to be in a position to pardon her when the time comes he’s dreaming.
In a sense he’s correct. His administration did nothing, and stopped at that.
Although a case can be made that they did less than nothing, actively making the problem worse.
Pelosi has a new name for the virus.
Which I would go along with.
Another possible name is The Hopeful Simpson Virus, after all the Homer and Marge Simpsons out there who voted Trump into office in the hope that there was perhaps a chance of a possibility that he was perhaps not lying his head off and was hopefully perhaps telling the truth for once and so could possibly perhaps hopefully deliver on his undertaking to make America great again, and with America, them, great; again if that were to apply.
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them. Homer and Marge fall into the latter category, but hopefully by now have learned their lesson and hopefully won’t do it again.
“I wish her well?” WTF? That’s crazy even for him.
Unfortunately I think he can preemptively pardon her as he did for Joe Arpaio. I’d like to think that would blow up in his face, but who knows anymore.
Yeah, Skeletor, it seems like we keep having these things he “can’t” do, and he does them, and we hope it will blow up in his face, and it doesn’t. His base is impervious to reason or human decency (perhaps there is a term for them? Perhaps…basket of deplorables comes to mind…may not be original). Our only hope is that the Republicans who are just tolerating Trump because Republican, because lower taxes, because pro-life judges, but are disgusted by the vulgarity and meanness, will grow both a heart and a brain simultaneously and bow out. I’m not holding my breath.
Translation: “I have definitely been following it closely.” Hopefully because he is fucking terrified of what she will reveal.
“Basket of deplorables” was such a political misstep that I can’t even joke about it. If Hillary had won then some of the sting would be gone (as it was for Obama’s similar “bitterly clinging to their guns and religion” misstep). But she didn’t, and now we have Trump.
But hopefully not for too much longer! The polls are looking very promising. Low enthusiasm for Biden, but high enthusiasm for voting against Trump. Hopefully he’ll pick a good VP.
Political misstep? Basket of deplorables? Compared to the things Trump said many times a day every day?
Give me a break.
GOP: “Joe Biden is a tool of his leftist supporters, who are all communist anarchists. They hate America. They want to tear down the suburbs and invite in Mexican gangs who will murder your children.”
Skeletor: “A hard-hitting attack by the GOP; how will Joe Biden satisfy swing voters that he isn’t a tool of his America-hating supporters?”
Democrat: “You know, some of Trump’s supporters are not good people.”
Skeletor: “OH MY STARS AND GARTERS! Such a vile smear on people whose only crime is to support a different candidate! How will the Democrats recover from such a blunder? Why, it’s the biggest mistake since Nancy Pelosi revealed that she likes ice cream!”
OB:@#10:
Doesn’t that assume that the same rule book applies to both sides in this game; as they each appeal to the swinging voter population?
Actually, I think Clinton could have hit Trump out of the electoral park if she had called him out for openly leaving his lectern and stalking her in their last TV debate. “Who do you think you are stalking, Buster?” I am sure would have swung the contest her way big time. But she played by the rules, where Trump openly and repeatedly violated them; and without ever being brought to order by the Chairman.
Loaded dice?
