But everyone isn't free to define herself in whatever terms she deems fit. We can't define ourselves as heads of state, doctors, pilots, many more items, unless we really are those things.
No I'm not, I'm replying to "Eddie Izzard, who is free, as is everyone else, to define herself in whatever terms she deems fit." You're not free to define what I said and meant.
That depends on how you define "define." We can say the words, sure. We can't make them true if they're not true – if they're objective as opposed to subjective.
Would Andrew Bogg agree then that Trans Women Are Not Women in jurisdictions that have not passed laws based on gender-self-identification?
Somehow I suspect not. It’s a very odd look for a movement that is just beginning to win legal recognition to insist that legal recognition is not just important, but actually determines reality.
Andrew Wokebeard doesn’t have anything to worry about in the instance of this particular “magical” manifestation of the law. It’s not his rights and spaces that he’s giving away while basking in the warmth of of unearned righteousnes. Yet it was not so long ago that the law would have jailed him for homosexual behaviour: the law cuts both ways, so Mr Bogg might want to mind his fingers when wielding it against others.
I’m old enough to remember when Eddie Izzard claimed to be a “lesbian trapped in a man’s body”. And it was a joke. Part of his routine. And now it is not joke, apparently.
Can this happen to other comedians as well? Will Eddie Murphy start claiming he is actually a gay Mr T in real life?
Abe Lincoln:- How many legs does a calf have if a tail is called a leg? Four. Calling the tail a leg doesn’t make a tail a leg.

So now they’re sovereign citizens? The “law is magic”? Woah…
I’d take little-to-no notice of anything said by a person who thinks that ‘woman’ is the plural of ‘woman’.

IANAL/IANAB, but are the UK laws on gender identity a legal fiction? If so, Andrew Biggs should look that term up.
