Six new cases
Oops, what was that again about go to the Trump rally but wear masks but have a fabulous time but stay six feet apart but jump up and down and scream?
Wellllllll that’s ok, no problem, just whisk them away in a sealed box and never mention it again.
The important thing is, don’t let anyone in who hasn’t signed that waiver!
Excellent. Very reassuring. But what about those people who have been in immediate contact with those who were in immediate contact with the COVID-positive staffers? Or those in immediate contact with those in immediate contact with those in immediate contact with the COVID-positive staffers? Or those who……and so-on.
Hypothetically, if I happen to inhale a load of COVID-rich air from a COVID-positive person, that makes me the immediate contact requiring isolation. But I’m not immediately aware that I have been infected, so after inhaling the load of viruses I go into another room. With every exhalation I am leaving a cloud of expelled air containing some of the viruses that haven’t yet locked onto a cell inside me, and some people will obviously be inhaling some of those, then exhaling some with every breath they take. How many rooms will I go into, how many people might I infect before being identified as an immediate cintact with the person who infected me, sending me into isolation? And those people I infected; how many people will they come in contact with before my own COVID-positive contact is tested, triggering my own isolation? Further, how long will it take for me to be tested and, if positive, to trace all those I have been in contact with, and how many people have they infected by then?
It’s only when one starts to understand the exponential nature of the spread of a virus, and particulary the contribution to spreading made by asymptomatic people, that it becomes clear why the precautions put in place to stop the spread must be followed by everybody regardless of whether or not they feel ill, or have been in contact with somebody who was clearly ill.
It isn’t even a difficult concept to wrap one’s head around. Trumps campaign people understand it: Trump’s aides and staffers and advisors understand it, yet here they are, dishonestly minimizing any concerns the attendees might have by pretending that the non-attendance of the COVID-positive staffers and a handful of those they were in contact is all that’s required to keep everybody safe. And all for the sake of that malignant, bloated fool who couldn’t give the slightest shit for any one of them. That is something that I will never be able to get my head around.
AoS – applause!
I can’t get my head around the fact that no-one managed to persuade the malignant mandarin that it might be a bad idea to risk killing a bunch of his supporters.
tigger, maybe that’s the super secret plan for getting him out of the White House.
