Not so fast, Loser
Trump’s neighbors would really rather not.
Next-door neighbors of Mar-a-Lago, President Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Fla., that he has called his Winter White House, have a message for the outgoing commander in chief: We don’t want you to be our neighbor.
Mister Rogers would have said the same.
That message was formally delivered Tuesday morning in a demand letter delivered to the town of Palm Beach and also addressed to the U.S. Secret Service asserting that Trump lost his legal right to live at Mar-a-Lago because of an agreement he signed in the early 1990s when he converted the storied estate from his private residence to a private club.
Yes but everybody knows that Trump’s signing an agreement means precisely nothing. If he feels like breaking it he’ll break it unless someone stops him.
In the demand letter, obtained by The Washington Post, an attorney for the Mar-a-Lago neighbors says the town should notify Trump that he cannot use Mar-a-Lago as his residence. Making that move would “avoid an embarrassing situation” if the outgoing president moves to the club and later has to be ordered to leave, according to the letter sent on behalf of the neighbors, the DeMoss family, which runs an international missionary foundation.
Missionaries. Now that’s poetic justice. Maybe they could spend all their time trying to convert Trump.
For years, various neighbors have raised concerns about disruptions, such as clogged traffic and blocked streets, caused by the president’s frequent trips to the club. Even before he was president, Trump created ill will in the town by refusing to comply with even basic local requirements, such as adhering to height limits for a massive flagpole he installed, and frequently attempting to get out of the promises he had made when he converted Mar-a-Lago into a private club.
What I’m saying. Promises and signing things mean nothing to Trump.
The 1993 Palm Beach agreement isn’t the only document that raises questions about whether Trump can legally live at Mar-a-Lago. He also signed a document deeding development rights for Mar-a-Lago to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a Washington-based, privately funded nonprofit organization that works to save historic sites around the country. As part of the National Trust deal, Trump agreed to “forever” relinquish his rights to develop Mar-a-Lago or to use it for “any purpose other than club use.”
Yes but by “forever” he meant “until I feel like it.”
If he takes up residence at Sing-Sing instead then it becomes moot.
Looks like he’s already converted to me, he believes a lot of things that are not true. :P
You can’t move to my neighborhood either Donnie, we’d run you out on a rail.
BUT imagine what a world first it would be if they rose to that challenge and succeeded..! The religious press would never leave off publicising the miraculous glory of it all. I can see the headline now:
TRUMP ANNOUNCES “I was a narcissistic and totally selfish pussygrabbing wanker until I FOUND JESUS and was SAVED..!”
I reckon it would be enough to trigger The Second Coming.
I can assure you that my community council would not welcome Mr Trump in the neighbourhood, where there is a very desirable golf course. He would bring the wrong kind of person with him, and could not be trusted to conserve the trees on his property. Also he would be unlikely to help us in our clean up days, when we pick up litter from the park and river. We suspect his Christmas decorations would be vulgar and obtrusive. On the other hand, he would certainly oppose the proposed cycle route.
What is the problem with a “Cycle route”? Afraid the bicyclists would bring the wrong element into the exclusive neighborhood? I might note that bicycling is growing in popularity while golf is a dying industry.
Brian M, perhaps KBPlayer is referring to the female cyclist who gave a “one finger salute” to the presidential motorcade near one of his golf courses, and was persecuted for it? If not prosecuted. Some parts I recall …
Rrr:
Trump might have urged the police to prosecute on the grounds that a one finger salute was beneath his dignity, and that it should have been the usual two.
@brian M #5
Trump’s problem with cycling is that it’s exercise.
The cycle route is a private joke, as I and some allies have been locking horns for years with the community council over this. They say that cycles cause pollution, congestion, and destroy businesses. Also, they could lose a parking place, which they value over their children. I am sure Trump would regard cycling as transport for losers and communists – so on the cycle route he would be on the same page as the Edinburghers in my manor.
After 6 years of struggle the cycle route is to be built in spring 2021. .
@Brian M – yes – there is a mantra “cycling is the new golf” which it is for a segment of the population – usually middle-aged males with good incomes.
Rrr,
She lost her job as a government contractor, but then ran for and won a seat on the Loudon County (Virginia) Board of Supervisors.
