Not clear why ACLU guy is telling lies
Chase Strangio is not an honest interlocutor.
That’s not honest. He’s telling a lie. (Sue me, Chase!) We don’t want trans people to die, and what would be the point of wanting them to “disappear”? People don’t “disappear.” We want trans people to stop trying to force us to share or agree with or endorse or celebrate or act in accordance with their magical claims about themselves. That’s all. We want trans women to stop trying to take over women’s spaces, prizes, shortlists, awards, firsts, and the like. We want trans women to stop trying to appropriate the category “woman.” That’s all.
ACLU publicists should not tell lies, and they should especially not tell lies about a category of people that has had to struggle to get the civil liberties that are seen as the birthright of men.
This is the kind of bullshit that made it impossible for me to support the ACLU anymore. If they have departed from reality and honesty so gravely in this matter, they become untrustworthy across the board. What will they redefine next? Will they declare that prohibiting lesbians from saying they are same-sex attracted is a defense of free speech? Will they support removal of children from families that don’t believe the trans dogma?
This is especially ironic coming from a woman. She knows firsthand what women go through on a daily basis, so I can’t imagine the mental gymnastics that she needs to go through to be able to justify this nonsense in her own mind. The comments on Twitter give me hope that this kind of nonsense has reached its peak and will soon be relagated back to the fringes.
This, I think, is a TRA translation of the following:
“Nobody is born in the wrong body; there is no male or female personality; it is better if people learn to accept themselves and feel free to live as they are instead of becoming permanent medical patients fruitlessly trying to conform to what society expects them to look like.”
Women’s rights aren’t the only concern, but therapy and a more open culture would seem more in line with this particular goal than murder and driving people into closets.
Strangio reminds me of Christians who say “atheists want to eradicate religion” — and then interpret that in the wrong framework, and to an extreme.
Scarry, I think Strangio is trying to prove she’s a man by being a callous dick to women.
The ACLU wanted to legalize prostitution last I heard. Not a Nordic model, straight up legalization. I don’t think they think very much of women.
The ACLU has really become foul, having people like this, who use misogynist slurs like ‘terf’ and probably worse. Another pronoun person too, I think people don’t realize how sinister the pronoun fad really is.
Heather Heyer should’ve been justification enough but they’re never getting another red cent from me. Their judgement has been dubious at best in recent years.
