Nah you don’t know that
No, that’s you.
I know GC people believe that people are gifted with some kind of magic, unmeasurable, immutable sexed soul at conception, but there’s just no evidence for that mate
That’s so gaslighty. That is not what gender critical people believe, that is the exact, precise opposite of what gender critical people believe. That’s the whole point. We don’t believe the fairy tale of the magic gender that belies the body, it’s uncritical trans ideology that believes and promotes that silly idea. All we believe is the tautology that a female body is a female body, and there’s nothing magic or unmeasurable about it. We call people who have female bodies “women” and we don’t call people who have male bodies “women.” That’s all; no magic required.
Mate.
I am finding this DARVO most fascinating. Because their slogans and dogma are based on opinion, not reality, it is small wonder that some are claiming for themselves the views gender-critical people hold, and projecting onto GC people the views which their side espouses. The wonder of it is that they are so damned certain, even though many of them do not realise that they are contradicting their own side’s dogma. Of course, a lot of them do realise it, and are doing it deliberately to keep the acolytes on their toes and the media confused.
Two weeks ago, it was anathema to state that there was no such thing as ‘born in the wrong body’; one small threat of loss of income, and now Mermaids are pretending that they never believed such nonsense, and it was GC people saying it. I had a small preview/taster of this a few years ago, when a young ‘pro-trans’ woman got extraordinarily peeved at me in PM, and became increasingly incoherent as she tried to explain the inexplicable.
If your movement isn’t based in reality, but on slogans, then there is nothing to do when the slogans change but forget they were ever different. We have always been at war with Eastasia.
I’ve run into this before. The reasoning seems to be:
1.) Conservatives and terfs think sex and gender are the same (if you have a male body, you think and behave like a boy.)
2.) but gender identity theory recognizes that sex and gender are different! (Some people with male bodies think and behave like girls.)
3.) Gender identity is in the brain, and when it doesn’t match with sex it’s due to biological factors.(Similar to DSDs.)
4.) Therefore, conservatives and terfs must reject biology in favor of some mysterious, magical connection which permanently keeps the two together.
Obvious problems:
1.) gender critical feminists ( not ‘Terfs’) believe that sex and gender are different.
2.) There’s no such thing as thinking and behaving “like a girl.”
3.) there’s no good evidence for ‘gender identity.’
My mother would be horrified at this statement. She was not woke, she was conservative and Christian. In short, while there is a smidgeon of overlap between the position of conservative Christians and rad fems, they diverge in many crucial, key ways. It’s just disingenuous of the TRAs to pretend that we are in lockstep with regressive conservatism just because we both happen to hold the position that you can’t change your sex by wishing.
But..clownfish?
Body.
Huh. Now this sounds like absolute crazy talk. It’s interesting how changing just one word does so much work, eh?
Right. But believing that a toddler knows what gender he or she is totes logical.
Sorry, I want to do a little end zone dance on this one.
The same toddler who thinks that Santa brings him or her presents.
The same toddler who thinks that he or she is going to marry mommy or daddy some day.
The same toddler who thinks that I just stole his or her nose.
Sure. That wise young person totally has a grasp on reality that the rest of us can’t fathom, and it would be foolish to attribute it to parental influence or culture or any other factor.
That’s like being told by a theist how absurd it is for atheists to believe that life, the universe and everything were somehow conjured into existence by some kind of magic, unmeasurable, immutable spirit who just happened to be there at the outset…
Ha. So it is.
“I know atheist people believe that they have disproven God and know everything in the universe, but…”
Same thing, just a different religion.
