Just here to make the noise
Trump voters again demonstrating that Trump is a magnet for assholes.
A group of Trump supporters has gathered at Burke Lakefront airport in Cleveland, hoping to disrupt a Joe Biden event scheduled to begin here shortly.
…
In Cleveland there was a crowd of about 30 Trump adherents at 11am, and they were hoping to disrupt the Biden event. Their chanting had drawn the attention of police.
Report what? 20 or so people yelling? Not really all that newsworthy is it. Anyway the Graun did so ha.
“I don’t think he’ll cancel, but we’re just here to make the noise and hopefully drown him out,” said James Pierse, who was waving a ‘Trump Train’ flag.
Just here to be assholes. That should be Trump’s personal motto.
I think his reelection chances hinge on how many non-assholes will vote for the stupid shit, he definitely has the support of all the stupid assholes in this country, and probably always has. Maybe some of the non-assholes who voted for the stupid shit in 2016 have decided they don’t want to associated with the deplorables anymore. Have they seen enough? We shall see.
“how many non-assholes will vote for the stupid shit”
Can you be a non-asshole and vote for the stupid shit? I thought ‘asshole’ and ‘voted for stupid shit’ are synonyms.
The depth as to which we are truly fucked came home to me this weekend while watching a clip of a Trump supporter being asked questions about the Sept 11, 2001 WTC / Pentagon attacks. The Trumplodyte was railing about how disgusting it was that Obama was nowhere to be seen in the Oval Office soon after the attack. When asked WHY he thought Obama might not have been seen in the Oval, he said he didn’t know but sure would like an answer.
Now this guy was at least in his 40’s although I suppose evidence of hard living may have made it harder to pinpoint that. So he was likely at least in his 20’s when the Towers fell. Being a staunch Republican, it seems reasonable that he might have seen George H Bush’s speech on the 14th at NYC ground zero. You know, President Bush, the president in 2001. It’s like these guys think Obama has a time machine he uses to go back and fuck shit up.
Was he a liar… a dumb fuck… a brain washed hush with vaguely humanoid features? The one thing he wasn’t was alone.
Sigh
Wrong Bush,
PapitoPliny. George H. Bush was 41, and left office in 1991. George W. Bush was 43, and president during 2001.But yeah, that’s disturbing. It does not surprise me; I hear similar things from my students every day. People just don’t know things. Important things. Things they should know before they vote.
Sorry, Pliny, didn’t mean to call you Papito; though it seems Papito is a fine fellow, so maybe you don’t mind. (and ironic, when I am making a correction about the wrong Bush, no?)
A couple of years back, a poll of Louisiana Republicans found that 29% of them blamed Obama for the response to Katrina, just edging out George W. Bush at 28%. The reality distortion is powerful among these folks.
@2 I’m giving some of the people the benefit of the doubt that Donnie had them fooled back in 2016, but now they have no excuse, we’ve had 4 years of this hell now, time to decide. ;)
@3 I distinctly remember Bush Jr with the dumbfounded look at the school he was at, then flying in circles on Air Force 1 for hours trying to figure out where it was safe to land. It was bizarre.
Also how many of them buy into the economy fairy tale that Donnie spins, a complete distortion. Obama rebuilt the economy after 2007 and Donnie inherited it. A bloated and volatile stock market does not equate with a strong economy. All Donnie did was pour gasoline on it. He’s a terrible businessman, but stupid shits usually are.
DOH! I looked at that and could SWEAR I typed George W! But alas, I did not.
There is a non-asshole segment among his followers, unfortunately–they’re victims of a long con. A bunch of the Q-Anon types fall into this category; they’ve been led to believe that not voting for Trump is allowing a cabal of pedophiles to regain control of the country. There’s other groups out there as well; Cuban-Americans who have an almost Pavlovian reaction to an accusation of ‘communism’ because of their personal history with Castro (and who fail to realize that Trump has far more in common with Fidel than Biden ever would) are another group.
Yes, this is outrageous and ridiculous, but that’s the thing about con-men; they get away with selling the outrageous and ridiculous, and then their victims invariably have a hard time realizing that they have divorced themselves from reality. And many of these people are not stupid or insane, even though they are currently believing something that is both of those things–if con-men only ever snagged the foolish and mad, they wouldn’t be able to make much money. Instead, they get into their victims’ heads, using an insidious blend of fear and flattery, and play basic human psychology against their targets.
Freemage is definitely more charitable than I am.
twiliter too.
