We were happy to be in Sydney when it was cooler. But now Aus is burning. Help where you can, even just by sharing this will help others know about it! Help by caring for everyone. Thank you. #AustraliaBurning pic.twitter.com/rFpcdZzmFv

They can’t be going ahead with the Australian Open, can they?
maddog1129, Test Cricket between Oz and NZ got underway around an hour ago. In Sydney.
Nick Kyrgios, the “bad boy” of Australian Tennis has led the charge to use the presence of the world’s best players to raise money for bushfire victims.

In a nation as sports-mad as Australia, the game must go on. And so will the fundraising.
To me no image in recent memory has illustrated humanity’s collective response to climate change better than the picture of the magnificent fireworks (a known fire hazard) over Sydney on New Years Eve while the country was on fire. It’s the new equivalent of fiddling while Rome burns.
Bjarte, it’s similar to here, when our city council had a chance during the worst drought in decades to declare fourth of July fireworks verboten, and decided they couldn’t take the income away from the churches. So what if those churches ended up burned down by the same fireworks? No, it was more likely to be people’s houses, and in fact, there were more fires that year than usual.
