Each day
Trump won’t like it that news outlets are reporting on his tiny desk and tiny hands and big diapers.
For a US president obsessed by size – his hands, his wealth, his crowds – Donald Trump made something of a bold U-turn on Thursday night by addressing the country from a desk seemingly designed for a leprechaun.
Or a very naughty boy.
The hashtag #DiaperDon swiftly trended on Twitter, with people mocking the president as an infant banished to the children’s table for Thanksgiving.
I’ve been laughing all afternoon at this, ever since my sister sent me a link when she got up. I knew it would be on B&W as soon as you got online!
Interestingly, there is a photo floating around of GHW Bush sitting at the same table (without seal), outdoors and surrounded by other people as he signed a Bill. It all looks perfectly normal and Statesmen like. It’s not the table that makes the situation so grotesque.
Yes I saw a tweet pointing out that a small table is often used for signing bills so that interested parties can gather around it for a photo. It included a snap of Obama doing just that.
But for press conferences…not so much.
I laughed way harder at this than anyone who is alone in a room should ever laugh… the chair seems to be a full size smaller than the desk so somehow, Trump is too big and too small for the desk at the same time? I didn’t know that was even possible.
Here’s some more to add to diaper Don’s pain.
Catwhisperer yes some wag pointed out that the legs of the chair appeared to have been sawed down. Golly I hope they were.
That chair has the right proportions for a Victorian nursing chair, which has just put an image in my head that may just give me nightmares.
Also, the desk isn’t a desk, it’s a late-Regency period tea table for use in non-dining rooms such as the withdrawing room, library, etc, on which the servant would place the tray holding the teapot, milk jug and sugar bowl and from which the tea would be served. They were also often used to display the owners’ finest porcelain or silver objects.*
The difference between a table and a desk is simply that desks always have drawers or storage compartments with hinged lids while tables may or may not. If it has drawers it could be either a desk or a table but with no drawers it can only be a table.
*not that I’m knocking Donnie (for once) for using the ‘wrong’ kind of furniture; the distinction between the two is not exactly common knowledge and not at all important nowadays, and nobody but the most snobbish of people would sneer at somebody for such use. He does look bloody ridiculous, though.

While Trump has occupied the office of the President of the United States, he has never once done the job.
