But which One?
Wow indeed. That question.
One fragment from his run-on unpunctuated don’t you dare try to say anything while I’m talking reply:
I think I came up with the term, I hope I came up with the term, it’s fake news
Yeah sure he’s the first person ever to put the word “fake” together with the word “news.”
I had to look up OANN – One America News Network. Makes Fox look liberal.
It’s worth remembering that “fake news” was initially used during the 2016 election (I’m sure it was used before in other contexts; certainly I recall it being used to describe things like SNL Weekend Update or The Daily Show) to describe false stories planted on social media, usually by Russian propaganda operations.
When people began to complain to Facebook and other companies about this “fake news,” the Trumpers started to co-op the term. Standard Trump projection technique (which is really just the old DARVO method): “I’m not fake news, YOU’RE the fake news!”
And now he wants to pretend he invented the term. Soon he’ll be claiming that he invented the question mark.
Anyone here know Morse Code? Because I think the woman behind him is trying to send a message.
With her blinking, that is.
The exclamation point, surely.
I see you’ve all forgotten that Trump coined the phrase “priming the pump.”
Next to that, coining fake news is child’s play.

The first I remember hearing it (around the 2016 election) was when Bernie was using it…
I imagine Trump also generated “Something’s rotten in the state of Denmark”, “All’s well that end’s well”, and “It’s all Greek to me”. Not to mention “Methinks the lady doth protest too much”.

Yes, I remember the term ‘fake news’ first becoming predominant in modern American politics immediately after the 2016 election, when a lot of research came out about how much Russian influence had been in favor of Trump and how much more likely conservatives were to believe and share phony articles on social media. After that came the standard Trumpian turn of ‘I know you are but what am I?’ and they started using the term ‘fake news’ themselves.
