Women are the threat
Liam Madigan informs us that Karen Ingala Smith is not a feminist, on the grounds that her list of murdered women is a list of murdered women. She “purposely” doesn’t include men on her list of murdered women, therefore she is not a feminist in the view of Liam Madigan, Labour Students National Women’s Officer.

Also Liam.

I don’t think Liam would recognize a fact if it bit him on the ass (as we vulgarly say over here – swap in “arse” if you prefer).
Arse. Definitely an arse.
This list is a record of, essentially, the lack of privilege experienced by women as a class, and trans wokeism just doesn’t allow for that. Bloated statistics regarding murdered trans people? Men’s violence statistics being added to the female column because they declared themselves so? – accepted without criticism.
Skew all the things for trans people!
I’m beginning to believe that this is all part of the vast Russio-GOP-fundi conspiracy machine. After all, the single greatest threat to GoP-fundi hegemony are women. Even with gerrymandering, women could toss them out on their collective behinds. It also is a strategy that specifically destabilizes feminists – across the board probably the group most immune to their bullshit. It silences or at least minimizes the voice they fear most.
Ok, maybe time to up my meds ;)
Has there ever been even a single reported instance of a woman attacking a trans woman? Ever? By which I mean, media report, police called, etc. Because there are many hundreds of the reverse.
Someone in that twitter thread posted a link to this site:

I remember reading about a couple. This one, from 2011, has its own Wikipedia article.
The article doesn’t mention that the girls accused Polis of flirting with a boyfriend of one of them. (Obviously no excuse, but would undermine the “hate crime” narrative. Of course, the girls may have lied.)

#6, Mondegreen — yes, the McDonalds incident came about because the real girls thought the TIM was a real girl and thought he was flirting with their boyfriends.
I read about two other cases of real women killing TIMs. One incident started when a TIM and a real woman who knew each other started arguing over shoes and the TIM hit the woman in the head with a bottle. After fighting for awhile, the real woman left the scene and came back with a gun and killed the TIM.
There was some other case on the West Coast recently were two “street people” who knew each other in some way got in a fight and the TIM was killed but I am not sure of the facts on that one.
So even in the few cases where a real woman has killed a TIM, it has never been a “oh, look, there is a trans and I hate trans so I am going to shoot him” situation. Always seems to be an element of mutual combatants at some point.
LM, and it seems in at least two of the cases the women identified the transwoman as being actual women? Certainly the first – but the one with the shoes might have, as well, even if they knew each other. These just sound like standard woman-on-woman violence, and therefore not about being trans. I could be wrong with these sketchy details, but we should be careful to make sure what we are talking about when we claim hate crimes, like the TRAs claim hate crimes without caring if they are really motivated by the trans-identified status.
In the meantime, Dallas police are calling in the FBI for help on a string of trans-woman murders (apparently by men, at least in the one I read) because 3 transwomen have been murdered since October. I tried to find stats about how many women had been murdered in Dallas. I found one thing about overall murders, not broken down by demographics, and lots and lots about the three trans murders. There were 40 murders in Dallas in May alone, and 93 this year so far. I imagine a fair percentage of those are women. No FBI called in. No large headlines.

Yes, Iknklast, the sketchy details on many crimes involving trans make it very hard to say definitely what happened. When I spent days searching the internet for ONE case of a man who claims to be a woman being beaten up by other men in a men’s restroom, all I could find that was even close had such sketchy details that it left me thinking it was more a gay man being bothered by somebody in a park restroom.
I know it is a right wing site, but The Federalist had an article about the 5 TIM murders recently. And, like me, the author could not see any proof that any of the murders was a clear cut hate crime.
Saw a video last night of TIM Indya Moore (?) and he was stomping on and trying to walk away with the sign some Trump supporter had with him. It was a pro-Trump sign. They had a huge tug-of-war over the sign and two other men came over to berate the Trump supporter who finally lost his temper and really shoved the TIM to make him give the property back. Then it was broken up by police.
So, if a TIM steals something from another person and that person tries to take it back and during the struggle the TIM dies (maybe falling down and hitting head on ground), is that a hate crime? I am sure it would be called on but who knows now?
LM, one of the cases I saw said the perps beating the victim were shouting anti-gay slurs. That does sound like a hate crime, but is it truly a trans hate crime? Or is it standard issue homophobia? Again, it’s hard to tell. And the victim was black, which adds another confounding factor.
On the other hand, many of the women murdered by their significant others are very clear cut cases of domestic violence, and a lot of that is fueled by misogyny and the habit of seeing women as property.
