Watch the dudes leapfrog over women
*Hillary Clinton wins popular vote*
Media: BEGONE, wench! Disappear into the shadows and never return!
*Joe Biden tries A THIRD TIME after not even coming close twice*
Media: Wow, look at this exciting new candidate!
Can’t put my finger on what the difference could be…

We keep being told that women need to lean in but…
Women’s lack of ambition is not the reason white men are leading in that race. Rather, it’s some dubious notion of who’s “electable” against Donald Trump. (Read: not a woman.)
That’s why watching South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who represents a population smaller than a New York City council district, outpoll Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren makes many of us want to eat glass; an entirely rational reaction to a datapoint that might discourage anyone without a Y chromosome…
…
Speaking of not giving anything up, the most recent Emerson poll shows Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg and Beto O’Rourke all ahead of the nearest women, Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren.
While Biden and Sanders are well-established candidates with decades of public service and national name recognition, it’s galling to see previously obscure men with limited accomplishments like “Beto” and “Mayor Pete” leapfrog over women whose outsized accomplishments and respective résumés would put most people to shame.
Just as it was galling to see an ignorant brainless rapey corrupt shit like Trump leapfrog over a woman whose outsized accomplishments and résumé would put most people to shame. Elections are like that, of course: people can vote for whatever reason they feel like, and often the reason is as ridiculous as “I’d be happy to have a beer with the guy.” That doesn’t make it any less galling.
Voters require female candidates to be more prepared than men—and then punish them for it when they inevitably prove less “likable.” This is not just a Republican sickness. According to the same Emerson poll, 26 percent of Sanders supporters would vote for Trump over Warren in a general election.
I guess men are just better, huh?
“Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris aren’t polling as well as they should, We don’t know why. There must be some factor we are missing”

I was running for a union office this weekend, to represent higher education. The person who won (my only opponent) was male, had been a member of the union for less than a week, and has worked in higher ed for less than a year. Of course, in this case, he was Hispanic, but since all the other representatives are all Hispanic males, I think the push to make sure we have diversity by electing this man was…well, I don’t know, maybe supererogatory.
Meanwhile, every single higher ed delegate voted for me, because they wanted the person with 20 years of faculty experience and 13 years in the local union. But since all the K-12 delegates were also allowed to vote and aren’t interested as much in the quality of representation for higher ed, the woke caucus decided that diversity was better served by electing nothing but Hispanic males.
One interesting feature is that when the other candidate made his speech, he included a list of all the oppressed and minority peoples he would work on behalf of (he won’t; that has no relevance to the position), the list did not include one particular group of oppressed individuals. I leave you all to guess which one. (I know, I ask all the hard questions.)
Women just don’t count in the diversity stakes. It’s sort of intersectionalism turned inside out: women can also be white and straight and middle or upper class, therefore, they don’t count.
Yes, and it is like all straight white women are believed to be middle or upper class and have always been that way. I could have given my background, complete with poverty, struggle, single-momhood, and severe struggles with depression that nearly ended my life at my own hands…this would have been yawn. Poor privileged white girl thinks she suffered poverty just because she had no money, no heat, little food, and clothes bought from the thrift store that were too big and designed for old women. She thinks that just because she has been sexually harassed that qualifies as abuse. Yeah, I’ve heard it all.
I fought and struggled and worked to move into the middle class, so I have always been middle class (because white). My opponent fought and struggled to move into the middle class, and he is a brave hero. And should automatically be given a position he lacks the credentials for because anything else would be white imperialism.

If you’d identified as a questioning, non-binary, two-spirit, lactose intolerant, assigned-human-at-birth trans otter and declared that anyone who doubted or questioned your identity was a PERF (Piscivore Exclusive Radical Fishmonger) and a DIRTY MUSTELIPHOBE who should be boycotted, de-platformed, dipped in batter and deep fried, it woulda been a landslide victory, I tells ya.
Oops, forgot to add SPECIESIST to “DIRTY SPECIESIST MUSTELIPHOBE.”
Not Bruce, next time I will make you my campaign manager.
Yes, putting the pain in campaign, that’s me.
