I may pick up one of her “Robert Galbraith” novels. I’ve read all the main Harry Potter ones and a couple of the side stories.
I must say, I’ve noticed a drastic reduction in the amount of Harry Potter fan posting in my Facebook newsfeed over the last few months. It could be selective noticing in my part, though. But I imagine some of my “woke” friends are mad at her.
The Cormoran Strike novels by Robert Galbraith are pretty good, especially the early ones. The latest one I read was too long, and there’s this drawn-out will they or won’t they between Strike and his side-kick Robyn, which is milked far too much. The music scene bits and other atmospherics were well observed. They were adapted to television and worked well with a cast of accomplished actors.
I read the first Harry Potter and quite liked some things like the Sorting Hat but had no impetus to carry on.
Slate solemnly declares an anathema against Rowling and with bell, book and candle, expels her as no longer an LBQT ally. I doubt if Rowling had any ambitions for that role.
“J.K. Rowling spent Thursday once again demonstrating a perplexing inability to pipe down and enjoy her millions.”
Of course if she’d spoken for the other side, she would have been lauded for speaking/calling out when she could keep schtum and enjoy her millions.
It then quotes the statements that Maya has made – which sound eminently reasonable to most people.
“She repeatedly tweeted statements like, “I think that male people are not women. I don’t think being a woman/female is a matter of identity or womanly feelings. It is biology.” In a workplace Slack she wrote, “But if people find the basic biological truths that ‘women are adult human females’ or ‘transwomen are male’ offensive, then they will be offended.” Forstater also purposefully misgendered a nonbinary councilor on Twitter, and when they complained, she wrote, “I reserve the right to use the pronouns ‘he’ and ‘him’ to refer to male people. While I may choose to use alternative pronouns as a courtesy, no one has the right to compel others to make statements they do not believe.””
Now they’re hunting for transphobia in the Robert Galbraith books.
Truly these people missed their vocations as commissars, members of the Red Guard or the Committee of Public Safety, or the anti-heresy branch of the Vatican.
Allergan breast implant recall as well as breast implant illness (BII) probe womanhood is not an accessory, being a woman is not a costume. Wombman have wombs and breast for child bearing & nurturing NOT as means to open the new world order doors of patriarchy.
I’ve never been interested in Harry Potter. But I am definitely interested in her writing here.
Good for her.
I outright dislike Harry Potter, and the only non-Potter novel of hers I’ve read, but I’m glad she’s doing this.

The comments below the article are mostly on Rowling’s side rather than the Witchfinder General author of the article.
I stand with Maya.
