Yes, running the country like a mob boss is just fine as long as you wear a Flag Pin™ while you do it.
No flag pins? Oh noes!11!!1! Bring me my fainting couch and smelling salts!
Ugh, the stupid fucking things Trump (and far too many US citizens – almost 10K retweets, and 27K likes) care about! #headdesk
Oops, own goal.

Junior posts photo of all the (allegedly) adult Trumplets and spouses just prior to Daddy’s SOTU speech. Guess what not a single one is wearing?
If you crop out the stupid heading, you have a really inspirational photo- racially diverse, young and older, all happy and proud. Ready to get on committees and subpoena the hell out of every single Trump.
Heart warming really.
I can see why Don Jr doesn’t feel the same way, though.
The heading could also be “They’re coming for you, Don.”
Good to see that spirit of peace and co-operation lasted…
There’s some good replies. I quite liked this one…

The flag pin thing became one of those trumped-up controversies several presidential elections ago–maybe during Obama’s first run? Or perhaps Kerry? Anyway, I don’t understand my compatriots’ flag obsession. Aside from the fact that it’s an inherently military symbol, and that it doesn’t really have anything to do with what might make the country worth defending, the US flag is, frankly, ugly. Horizontal red and white stripes just don’t go well with anything.
And is a flag pin enough? Shouldn’t we also all be wearing our Breast Cancer Awareness pink ribbon, and the ribbon for AIDS awareness, and my gosh it’s Black History Month, surely there’s a ribbon for that too. Should everyone (or at least every politician) have to festoon themselves with all manner of “flair” until they look like former Sheriff David Clarke?
The flag pin is a form of virtue signalling or allegiance advertising and a pretty cheap one at that. Empty symbolism of which any buffon or tyrant can partake, and has partaken. I work in a store that sells products made by a manufacturer (Bushnell) that emblazons their boxes with the notification PROUD USA COMPANY beside an American flag. The products themselves, of course, are made in China. This sounds a lot like…what? Yes, of course, TRUMP branded products.
The photo linked to by AoS could have the caption NOT ONE SCRUPLE AMONG THEM. We might also note that the photo of Trump’s progeny and their spouses also contains a much higher proportion of people known or suspected of engaging in unethical and perhaps even treasonous behaviour. Which group of people would you rather associate with? Which group is better suited to operate the machinery of government? Which group is more likely to have the interests of the country as a whole (rather than their own payoff) uppermost in their minds?
And if you really wanted to be honest about it, there are lots of women in the original photo posted (more than half a dozen), in the back rows, where it is impossible to tell whether or not they have pins. They could each be wearing one, but it would be unseen by the camera. Take that pinheads!
Orangutan Don, let me remind you that nationalism is a disease as one of my own comrades would say (A. Einstein).
Putting a flagpin on a shirt supports the US as much as dying one’s hair pink and shaving it into a mohawk. I’ve no flagpins in my wardrobe but I will be sure to send a check to GOP suparPAC funds for 50 trillion thoughts and prayers.
That would be a lot more fun! The whole pink mohawk thing would also signal a higher degree of devotion and commitment . It takes longer to do and is more conspicuous than donning a pin, which is also easier to remove. It takes a while for a dyed mohawk to grow out., though you can always wear a hat if you wish to tone down your patriotism a notch.
On second thought, shouldn’t the dye job be good old Red, White & Blue?
On third thought, aren’t mohawks appropriating Mohawk culture? I have no dog in this fight as my present, retreated hairline would not support a mohawk (or least nothing recognizable as one), dyed or not.
And on fourth thought, I’m Canadian so would have to choose some other colour/hairstyle combo to advertise my national devotion.
Maple-leaf shaped Mohawk, dyed red.
You’re welcome.
Conirmation of the correct shape could only come through the mohawk-bearer’s bowing, or looking down on them from a greater height.
This is getting more complicated all the time. I now understand the attraction of pins…
In the past at least it was not uncommon for Canadians travelling abroad to wear a flag pin or patch to advertise the fact that they were not American, as Canadians were sometimes more welcome thanAmericans. I don’t know if this is still the case anymore or not.
I think a lot of Americans wore those pins as well. I know I was tempted.
