Some have greatness thrust upon them
Trump says this could be GREAT. It’s up to us. We can do this! We can make it GREAT! Make American mass-murder great again! MAMGA!
We cannot let those killed in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, die in vain. Likewise for those so seriously wounded. We can never forget them, and those many who came before them. Republicans and Democrats must come together and get strong background checks, perhaps marrying……..this legislation with desperately needed immigration reform. We must have something good, if not GREAT, come out of these two tragic events!
Come on, kids! Make it GREAT!! It’s in your hands!
I do like his tentative preference for great things over things that are merely good. That’s visionary.
If he thinks stopping immigration will do it, he’s delusional. They’ll just shoot black people, women, and Jews.
One thing that might help, though, is mass emigration – of white supremacists. Find them an island somewhere, with nothing on it (not even plants and animals, because they like to shoot animals and cut down trees, too), and let them all play with their guns all by themselves. The rest of us will go about making America Great For The First Time.
Didn’t Trump and the Republicans rescind (or choose not to renew) some measure that made it more difficult for people with histories of mental illness to obtain guns? Is he admitting that was a mistake?
What am I thinking? He wouldn’t remember doing that, and wouldn’t admit it was wrong if he did.
OK, gluing together two things hated by one party and loved by the other and vice versa could be part of a good old fashioned compromise…
But attaching any sort of immigration reform to gun reform at this point is absolutely disgusting. The El Paso shooter was targeting immigrants, and you’re going to respond by nudging policy in his preferred direction? What is wrong with these people?
This fucking shit about people who are victims of crime “not dying in vain” boils my piss. As if they would have been delighted to be gunned down by a hate filled arsehole if only they had known that as a result of their noble sacrifice, gun powder would cease to exist. As if it’s somehow ok for people’s lives to be cut short for someone else’s benefit. Especially if that “benefit” is “not also be gunned down in cold blood” which is not a fucking benefit at all, is it, it should be a given. And especially-especially when we all know that no measures will be taken to prevent any of this happening again.
