To get rid of the bad taste that left behind…
Watch all 23 seconds, there’s a big surprise at the end.

I missed the surprise.
Lovely, but what’s the surprise?
Wow, you didn’t see it? It’s so cool! Keep watching, and maybe you’ll see it!
And I sure hope Ophelia doesn’t spoil the surprise and reveal it here!
Whaddya mean what’s the surprise?! It’s that what looked like a lovely but not spectacular meadow turns out to face in the other direction onto a breathtaking dale. Wassamattawichoo?
That’s not surprising. That’s what I was expecting.
Two moons in the sky would have been a surprise.
Last year I moved to a couple hours’ train trip from there…and have not yet made the time this summer to go spend a couple of days. Need to get motivated.
I obviously have scenery privilege, I wasn’t surprised at the view.
Hahahaha. Oh well. I was surprised by the view, partly because of the artful way the camera pans slowly slowly over nice meadow and sheep & lambs & dogs trotting along, very sweet and bucolic, and then in the last 2 seconds bam, fast pan over dale and CUT. I guess I’m easily surprised.
*rewatches video, confirms there is scenery behind sheep*
*looks up difference between dale and meadow*
Sigh. I’ve got to get get out of the house once in a while. Or at least look out of the window.
Heh.
Catwhisperer, you live in rural Wales, if memory serves. That is scenery privilege writ large. I used to feel the same when I lived just north of Sheffield, with views very similar to those in the video.
I have spent a great deal of time on Google Earth admiring the Dales.
Wensleydalein particular.Swaledale. I meant Swaledale.
AoS: Haha, isn’t all of Wales rural? I’m actually in the not-so-rural part but even so, you’re never far from a view. I walk up the hill from my house to the field where I walk the dog, and I’m looking across at the Somerset / Devon coast. I can see Glastonbury Tor from up there. Sorry, I didn’t mean to brag.
Catwhisperer, I once spent a summer with friends in Aberdare; 10 minutes in any direction and the scenery was glorious, and the clear nights, free of light pollution back then, gave an unforgettable view of the Milky Way.
I am utterly spoiled, then, because the view from my bedroom window is of sheep, and meadows, and dogs, and cattle, and ships out in the bay.
