Behold, a “sex toy”:

In what universe is that a sex toy???
A man whose wife died during a 48-hour extreme sex session days after they got married has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Ralph Jankus, 52, killed his wife Christel, 49, when he inserted a spiked Wartenberg wheel inside his wife, perforating her bowel.
The wheel is normally used by doctors to check nerve reactions.
They failed to get medical help for four days, by which time nothing could have been done to save her.
How is sticking a wheel with roughly 24 sharp spikes on it up a woman’s vagina “extreme sex”? How is it sex at all? Since when is torture “extreme sex”? Since when is a man torturing a woman “extreme sex”? Why didn’t he have matching injuries up his bum? Why didn’t he too die because “they” failed to get medical help for four days? Why does “extreme sex” always mean the woman gets stabbed and strangled and thrown around the room and then dies, while the man fails to seek medical help?
What. the fuck. is wrong with people.
Why do people hate women so much that they won’t even do anything about it when a man kills a woman in this way?
That? That is not a sex toy. Or rather, that is as much a sex toy as a is a .38 revolver with a single round in the cylinder. Oooooh, it intensifies the excitement!
@iknklast: I’m trying to imagine what would have been the reaction if the sexes were reversed, and, well … The thing is, with the way that such things have been mainstreamed, the only difference I’m predicting is that the dead man would have been thought less manly (because gender norms and homophobia). So I’m not sure I can get behind misogyny as a primary factor in the reaction.
But that’s just my thinking, and I am often wrong. Sometimes more than once a year, even.
Clarification: As far as I can tell with some cursory research, the actual BDSM community uses that thing externally. The very idea of inserting it is so far beyond the imaginable that … Words fail.
Yes, it is very much for external use only, and obviously so. Thus man should be held accountable for atrocious and obvious neglect, and it’s a travesty that he is not.
Ugh, I read the article. He claims to have been involved in BDSM for 30 years, yet still didn’t see that what he was doing was obviously going to cause injury (and then, that it was causing injury, and finally, had caused injury). The woman’s son claims she had reported abuse, fled to a women’s shelter, been forced to take drugs, beaten for getting her hair cut without permission… but hey, she consented to being fatally injured in the name of sex, so the poor man is blameless, right? Spare a thought, he just lost his wife.
I feel sick.
Nullius, you may be true, but…it is mostly women getting killed in “breath play” or “sensation play”. The males that have died that I am aware of tend to have died by their own hand (not on purpose, I realize) and not by being suffocated or torn into bits by a female having “extreme sex”. It’s similar to the trans sports thing: men are usually stronger than females (though, of course, there are exceptions).
