Meet the vacuum
I haven’t seen Jared Soninlaw Kushner in action before. It’s not an edifying spectacle.
Jared Kushner deflects when asked if he disapproves of Donald Trump's promotion of birtherism, saying he wasn't involved with it. @dctvny @hbodocs pic.twitter.com/D2wINVHLIx

Have you seen Trump do or say anything racist, Mister Soninlaw?
Absolutely not. You can’t not be a racist for 69 years n then run for president and be a racist –
Let me stop you right there, Mister Soninlaw. Trump was not not a racist for 69 years. He very much was a racist during that time frame. He was raised racist by a racist landlord father who excluded black people from his rental properties. He said many racist things over those 69 years. He spent his own money to try to get the Central Park Five executed for a crime they had nothing to do with. He pretended to think Obama was born in Kenya. He wasn’t just a racist, he was a vocal, public, proud, frothing racist.
Was birtherism racist?
Look, I wasn’t involved in that.
I know you weren’t. Was it racist?
I wasn’t involved in that.
I know you weren’t. Was it racist?
Etc.
Any surprises? Is he smarter than we thought? Is there a moral core?
Nope nope and nope.
I’ll give him the tiniest smidge of credit for clearly not liking birtherism, etc., and ducking the questions rather than implausibly assert there was nothing wrong there.
But he still has no business being in the position he’s in.
Oh come onnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn Skel. That’s just silly. It’s not clear AT ALL that he doesn’t like birtherism. If he gave a shit he wouldn’t be working for the monster in the first place. He couldn’t care less about birtherism, he just doesn’t want to talk about it on camera.
He could have said no, it wasn’t racist, it was a legitimate attempt to determine where Obama had been born. But instead he just refused to discuss it. To me it looks like he’s embarrassed by it. But perhaps you’re right and he had no problem with it but just doesn’t want to discuss it on camera.
Skeletor, it wasn’t a ‘legitimate attempt to determine where Obama had been born’, it was an attempt to de-legitimise Obama’s presidency because he’s the ‘wrong’ colour.
Lordy. That. Yes, it’s true that Kushner could have told a stupid ugly lie instead of avoiding the question, but that would hardly have been an improvement. There was no need to “determine where Obama had been born” because that little fact was already known. The stupid ugly lie would have been bad and avoiding the question was also bad. It was bad. There is ZERO need for any dancing around trying to say it wasn’t all that bad. IT WAS ALL THAT BAD.
