Man brags of woman-hating at IWD parade

Big strong determined? Clearly not nearly enough so or that stupid “TRANSPHOBIA KILLS” banner wouldn’t be hogging the limelight on International WOMEN’S Day.

“TERF graves are gender neutral bathrooms! [i.e.toilets]”
Not big, not strong, not determined, and sure as hell not feminist.
Well, that’s ghastly.
Wow, that’s nuts.
How do you march alongside someone holding those signs?
In my case at least, you don’t. I’d be the fuck out of there in a heartbeat, unless there were some women organizing to get them out.
“Stop playing politics with bathrooms! We just want to go pee! Oh, and murder people we disagree with.”
They’re doing a real disservice to their cause.
There was another classic in there: “Police and prisons don’t make us safer”. Ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm how do they not?
Holms, there seems to be a very strong link between many trans activists and some activists campaigning for the abolition of prisons and also some anti-poverty campaigners. If you drew a Venn diagram there is a decent overlap in membership, certainly in anew Zealand where members of such groups hijacked the annual Auckland Pride parade, making quite clear that uniformed police, prison officers and military were utterly unwelcome, along with lesbians not prepared to have sex with trans women and feminist women who want to maintain safe woman only spaces (who of course were all dismissed as ‘fucking TERFS’).
See https://papa.org.nz. Note that although they repeatedly claim to perform ‘high quality research on the criminal justice system’ I couldn’t actually see any links to such output, which seems pretty odd, since most organisations I’ve seen that claim to produce any sort of research fall over themselves to push it out there.
And an article from a gay organisation perspective

See an MO that is familiar?
What does “I’m too clumsy for all this fragile masculinity” even mean?
Thanks for that, Rob. Urgh.
(I think prison abolitionism isn’t as loony as that post makes it sound. Prison really is a very blunt and cruel instrument, which is probably a lot more obvious here in the US where it’s wielded against people who carelessly neglected to be white to a horrific extent.)
@maddog1129: There is so much fragile masculinity around here that a clumsy person could easily trip and break it. “Your sense of masculinity is so precarious that anyone could easily break it by accident.”
Ophelia @9, I agree that Prisons are a very blunt and problematic tool. Police have distinct issues as well. Even in New Zealand (tongue somewhat in cheek) we have issues. The stats clearly show that brown and poor people are more likely to end up getting the rough end of the justice system. It’s one reason among many why I’m not in favour of our Police being permanently armed (weapons are in lock boxes in vehicles). I just don’t think they are either well enough trained or trained out of biases. On the other hand, neither do I believe that we can do without police and prisons. The idea that if we just shower bad people with love, support and life skills the world will become a utopia is not realistic.
Indeed. “not as loony as it sounds” was a very hedged endorsement on purpose.
Crikey, when I wrote that comment at 11, I had been awake for 10 minutes. It shows. Hope you’ll all forgive the crap capitalization and cludgey phrasing.
