Great and unmatched wisdom
And speaking of the difference between Identifying As and actually being…Trump an hour ago:
As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over…….the captured ISIS fighters and families. The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory. THE USA IS GREAT!
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:/Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!” says the colossal wreck, boundless and bare.
If the leader of a major corporation publicly explained that a controversial action was taken “in my great and unmatched wisdom,” the board would call an emergency meeting to reassure shareholders and discuss next steps. For elected officials to ignore this is Russian roulette.
“in my great and unmatched wisdom” is the rambling of a lunatic
The phrase ‘in my great and unmatched wisdom’ uttered without irony! Does Trump think he is God now?
Now?
Republican politicians will try to spin this as “ he was being sarcastic.” As for his supporters, they’ll split between “har, har — he’s trying to pwn the libtards!” and “ooh, ooh — he’s the embodiment of God’s will on Earth!”
Twitter is full of Wizard of Oz jokes.
I find it hard to believe he knew the phrase “great and unmatched wisdom”.
How’s that impeachment coming along? Pronto?
Trump will be a hard act to follow, let us hope.
I’m horribly embarrassed by UK politics at the moment. But however bad our politicians are, none is in the same league as Trump, who is really sounding barmy now.
If I ever start a blog, “Great and Unmatched Wisdom” will be the title. Looks like someone’s already snagged the URL though.
I am sure the Messiahhh, TRump is telling the truth. Let’s face it, we are all born with good attributes and Dman just hasn’t made use of his yet!!!
I think my brain just melted. Yup. Pretty sure it’s had enough.
At this point I’d have to say the only useful attribute that Trump posesses is the fact that he is very likely biodegradable. The sooner he demonstrates that ability, the better…
Even there, though I wouldn’t give him the benefit of the doubt. Not when he’s that shade of orange.
Except for the hair. I’m pretty sure that’s made out of asbestos.
Screechy @ #6:
In your situation I would go for
‘Great and Unmatched Unbiodegradable Wisdom’ or
‘Great and Unmatched Biodegradable Wisdom’; whichever suits best. Or
‘Great and Unmatched Unbiodegradable Post-Trumpian Wisdom’ . Or
‘Great and Unmatched Unbiodegradable Pissed-Trumpian Wisdom Posts.’ .
But don’t lose any time bagging the urls. You gotta be quick; a lot of hopefuls out there.
Grab the lot and sell off the ones you don’t want for $$$$.
And remember the B&W tip jar.
It’s the kind of thing a Pharaoh would say in a Cecil B. Demille movie. Bring on the plague of frogs.
The most common ‘defense’, if one can term it as such, that I’ve seen is that this is ‘just trolling’. That it is a perfectly reasonable state of affairs that the President of the United States of America spews disingenuous bullshit meant to make people who take him seriously look like fools, and furthermore that when people *do* take his statements at face value, he is at once a victor over and a victim of their folly.
The notion that the leader of a nation should not engage in such conduct, and that such conduct itself is sufficient to remove that leader from the levers of power, never seems to factor in.
@Seth – Yes, the “only joking” ploy makes me furious. He’s the ******* President of the United States. He’s making a foreign policy statement with serious implications. You don’t make jokes at that time. Those are for friendly dinners, or cheery “downtime” photo shoots, not in an exchange about a NATO ally.

My guess is that the phrase was suggested to him, probably by Stephen Miller.
@Seth and @KBPlayer – and the “he’s only joking” defense is so patently wrong. Trump doesn’t have a sense of humor; that’s how we ended up with this mess in the first place, because he couldn’t take an Obama joke with the humor it called for. And he hasn’t shown a great deal of ability to make jokes himself.
I always assume everything Trump says is what Trump means, at least until he contradicts himself 5 lines later, which is what he really means at that time…and if so, he never said what he said 5 lines ago.
It’s the same thing we see with the Incels and the MRAs. They say something nasty, and someone else hears it, because others are watching what they say on the Internet. Then they follow up with the “haha only joking, funny joke” defense. Same with Rachel McKinnon telling TERFs to die in a grease fire.
The only joking defense is invalid even if they are only joking. It is negated when they aren’t really joking until they get backlash.
@Holms: it shows you the level of sycophancy required to be in Trump’s retinue.
I wonder what they think will happen when they get off Trump’s wild ride? Surely they’ll never find anybody as insane as Trump to employ them?
I read an article by one of the journalists who followed Scott Morrison on his visit to the US: she repeated the line that Trump deliberately sets up the chaos that are his press question times. I think there’s nothing deliberate about it: it’s a reflection of the chaos within him. He likes feeling important and putting people he perceives as lesser on the wrong foot gives him a sense of power- but there’s no strategy, it’s just his impulses being given form by his henchmen and toadies.
