Trump breaking the law yesterday by promoting his son’s new “book” on Twitter:
My son, @DonaldJTrumpJr is coming out with a new book, “Triggered: How the Left Thrives on Hate and Wants to Silence Us” – available tomorrow, November 5th! A great new book that I highly recommend for ALL to read. Go order it today!
The director of public policy at the Project on Government Oversight sums it up well … “Frankly he’s using his Twitter account to try to financially benefit his son .. That’s not only distasteful, but it’s a misuse of public office.”
2635.702 Use of public office for private gain. “An employee shall not use his public office for his own private gain, for the endorsement of any product, service or enterprise, or for the private gain of relatives.”
He breaks the law and laughs in our faces.
Does it really matter? The rule of law is all but dead in the US, this stuff is at the level of technicality.
When Trump said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any voters, he meant he was going to kill the Constitution dead…and with it any shred of decency and respect this country might have left. And, yeah, he won’t lose any of his voters, I’m sure.
Sure it matters. We can’t let him train us into taking this crap for granted.
That’s quite an ambiguous sentence. What exactly is Junior coming out as?
It has been three straight years of completely ignoring the emoluments clauses, without a hint of consequence. On the scale of things, plugging his son’s book is tiny – I would say he already has trained the US fairly effectively.
He can laugh in our faces because the republicans in power support his laughing in our faces and don’t see anything wrong with it. For them emoluments are the ingredients in a lotion to rub on your hands to smooth them.
I know, plugging junior’s book is tiny compared to Ukraine, Syria, Putin, the Paris accord, etc etc etc…but so what? It’s not as if I ignore the big stuff so why correct me for mentioning the small stuff?
Wasn’t intended as a correction, sorry if it seemed that way. More a comment that this is like worrying about spilling your drink in the car while the car is headed over a cliff.
Well, it’s like this – it is possible that he has only a year left to destroy all the things, and that he’ll have less and less power even to do that as the nooses tighten. I think we need to keep track of the whole range of his evil doings, not just the peaks.
It’s always worth keeping track of the small stuff, as a certain Al Capone found to his cost.
