Assertion is all that’s required
Speaking of the ACLU…
FACT CHECK: Supporting trans athletes hurts no one.https://t.co/zQ9peh1zwt

They say, captioning a photo of two boys who Identify As girls winning a race against girls.
Women and girls do not need protecting from the same people who are pushing abortion bans, removing Title IX protections for all girls, and rolling back the clock on gender justice.

Girls who are trans are girls. PERIOD.
— ACLU (@ACLU) April 2, 2019
No one is hurt when trans people live authentically.
Not in the restroom.
Not in the locker room.
Not on the court, field or track.

FACT CHECK: Many Olympians and other professional athletes support the inclusion of transgender and intersex people in sports.https://t.co/eVPJjrUffm

Women with high levels of testosterone are women.
Women who can't or don't want to get pregnant are women.
Women who are trans are women.
Stop policing women. https://t.co/bvPpNNxugB

Far-right transphobia IS a real thing. All those ‘bathroom bills’ were churned up before Karen White. Still…
I know.
“Women and girls do not need protecting from the same people who are pushing abortion bans, removing Title IX protections for all girls, and rolling back the clock on gender justice.”
Since when? Isn’t this something the ACLU is supposed to do? I thought the ACLU was down with Planned Parenthood…
It’s a badly written sentence. They mean women and girls do not need help from/alliance with the same people who are pushing abortion bans, removing Title IX protections for all girls.
Yeah, we’d rather not have to ally with those people. And we don’t want what they want, because we are fine with trans people being seen as human and behaving in ways that make them comfortable and happy. We just aren’t down with pushing women aside to do so.
Women are actually caught in the middle right now, not able to ally with either the right or the left. Fascists to the right of us, trans allies to the left, we are being squeezed into an ever narrower space.
The far right are not our allies. It benefits the trans community to brand them as such.
Captioned photo: two males winning a women’s race, ousting two women from qualifying for larger events, credit for potential sports scholarships, visibility. In other words, untrue.
A dirty bit of well-poisoning, lumping all people trying to preserve women in sports together with those with anti-female politics. Deliberate dishonesty.
Nope. Girls who are trans are trans girls. No periods.
Aside from those distressed at seeing male bodies in those female spaces, and the aforementioned women pushed out of qualifying positions etc. in sports, sure. So, untrue again.
A true statement for once! However, many don’t. Does Martina Navratilova ring a bell? Also, argumentum ad populum. Oh you want to overturn sporting segregation with a whopping 60 signatories? Fucking really?
Deliberate dishonesty: the people trying to preserve women’s sports have not suggested otherwise.
I agree that girls who are trans are girls. Sadly, they call themselves boys.
–Oh, you were referring to “trans girls”? Sorry, no. They’re males. Immature males are “boys.”
Cats with short legs are cats.
Cats who play fetch are cats.
Dachshunds are cats. *
* If they so identify.
Lady M, my Irish terrier has tried identifying as a cat when he wants to get cat food. I think that’s the same as men who identify as women to get on women’s sports teams.
Started checking comments. ACLU position is facing a lot of resistance, just like an earlier post of theirs that you highlighted a few weeks ago. Guess they’re not getting the message and still working on the Kool Aide buzz.
A trans woman has always been a woman, will always be a woman.
Waiting for the IOC to strip Bruce Jenner of his medals for competing as the wrong gender.
It’s easy. If you start life as male and change sex then you can compete in Transgender category. Otherwise it’s unfair to females. And anyone on this planet can still pee next to me.
It’s ironic that in many of the civil liberties lawsuits the ACLU brings, it relies on judicial precedent and reasoning that says, in essence, that you don’t blindly follow the label someone puts on something. As Lincoln is claimed to have said, “how many legs does a dog have, if you call a tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it so.” So when the government says “look, this policy doesn’t say anything about race/gender/religion/viewpoint,” the ACLU is usually — correctly — saying “just because you label something race/gender/religion/viewpoint- neutral doesn’t mean it is, we have to look at the actual substance.”
But now suddenly Abe Lincoln was wrong, and when you call a dog’s tail a leg then dogs have five legs after all.

I wonder: am I being overly cynical by thinking that the ACLU is just doing this to pursue the money that seems to be associated with trans activism? They surely won’t need the piddly income from my soon-to-be lapsed membership, it seems.

I used to have high testosterone, until I got my PCOS treated.
I’ve never wanted children.
But I never had a donger or ballsack. Thus, no one has EVER questioned me being female. Sometimes I have to tell people I am a *woman*, not a girl, because ALL of us still get infantilized by some people who think they are doing us a favor by denying our age. It’s ridiculous to compare people who really aren’t female to females who have health issues or are non-compliant with expectations. It is more than ridiculous, it is sexist. It legitimizes the rare people who are sexist enough to question the womanhood of women without children (I’ve been accused of being selfish for it, but that is not the same error), by claiming that males are women. Because if woman is just a label, not a biological fact, then the right have as much claim as the left to label what woman is supposed to mean.
