Trumpride
And then there’s Trump’s self-declared pride at shutting down the government.
As Nancy says, the American people recognize that a shutdown *is not* worth anything.
But Trump now blatantly admits that he is "proud to shut down the government" and harm our nation's economy. #TrumpShutdown pic.twitter.com/oibVrcUmKk

“I am proud to shut down the government,” he announces in his dopy shouty petulant scratchy voice.
Oh. My. God. This may be the single stupidest thing that Trump has said on camera. Well, maybe #2 after confessing to Lester Holt that he fired Comey because of “the Russia thing.” But still—wow. https://t.co/JnWuECdC2i

He almost literally says, “If I don’t get what I want, I’m going to take my ball home.”
Meanwhile, Pence looks like he’s questioning his career choices throughout the whole thing.
D’ya think Mueller might eventually say “I’m proud to shut down the whole Trump thing”? I would, if it were me.
I don’t understand why Trump needs Congress to approve funding for The Wall. After all, Mexico was going to pay.
Seriously, if I were Pelosi or Schumer, that would be my answer every single time the subject comes up. Don’t get dragged into a debate about how there is no immigration crisis, a wall is impractical, and wouldn’t prevent most instances of illegal immigration — those are all arguments Trump wants to have. Just say, over and over again, “well, the President promised that Mexico would pay, so regardless of what I think about a wall, it shouldn’t be necessary to have Congress fund it. Once Mexico writes that check, I guess construction will begin.”
What are the Republicans going to say in response? “Oh, come on, you’re being disingenuous. Everybody knows that Trump was just lying about that to rile up his base!”
Although I should add that Pelosi and Schumer did a great job in that conversation. They don’t need my advice!
Screechy, in the best traditions of bothsideism, our media have reported the conversation in such a way that it makes all three of them look bad and never mentions the aspect of Trump constantly trying to verbally and physically shush Pelosi.
