Totally legit, and he knew nothing about it anyway
Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower. This was a meeting to get information on an opponent, totally legal and done all the time in politics – and it went nowhere. I did not know about it!

It was totally legal, it’s done all the time – plus, also, he knew nothing about it! Just in case it turns out it wasn’t totally legal, or in fact legal at all, even slightly. Belt and braces, people, belt and braces.
I’m old enough to remember when this meeting was about adoptions. https://t.co/SZ2FDwsNzO

Trump statement, July 2017: “We primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children that was active and popular with American families years ago.” https://t.co/9lYejcZxzK

They knew they would be meeting with representatives of the Russian state.
They knew they were being offered Russian state intelligence.
They intended to use Russian intelligence offered by Russian agents against an American opponents.
They did not alert the FBI.

“My wonderful son, Donald.”
This, of course, suggests that Eric isn’t wonderful. That telltale comma!
Ben, he has five kids; he can’t be expected to like them all equally, can he? Leaving Barron aside (because he’s not yet old enough for Trump to decide whether he likes him or not) there’s the two adult sons, called Donald Jr. and The Other One, and his daughters, Ivanka and The One He Never Mentions.
No coincidence, of course, that the two he’s closest to are the two most like him.
Also too, it went nowhere! So no big deal anyway, right!?
“…he’s not yet old enough for Trump to decide whether he likes him or not…”
We may have hints, though. Trump already knows that Barron doesn’t rate an umbrella. Or maybe it was a character-building exercise?
It’s like the Bart Simpson defense: I didn’t do it, nobody saw me, you can’t prove anything!
