I once read an article that was giving advice to trans men on locker room etiquette. Apparently such advice for trans women doesn’t exist yet. Let me start:
Zinnia doesn’t get the issue because she wasn’t in the room with the girls being instructed on how penises are dangerous to them; she was in the room with the boys being instructed that penises are awesome.
Twitter is a great medium for Zinnia. She puts that minimum of characters to maximum effect. If only she were funny, and not so thoroughly unpleasant.
I think a lot of this comes from decent intentions–after all, it’s a laudable goal to want to live in the kind of world where men and women could simply be uncontroversially nude in each other’s company (especially in the context of a locker room) without any real risk of assault or harassment; a world, in short, where nudity was divorced from sex and sex was divorced from power.
We do not yet live in such a world. That doesn’t mean we cannot build it, but it does mean that we pretend there’s no need to build it at our peril.
I wonder if Jones would see the supposed issue if a man of the original variety walked into the women’s changing rooms and started waving his man’s dick around in front of women and girls (of the type that don’t have girl-dicks)? Where I come from, that’s indecent exposure, and possibly trespass depending on the location.
Mind you, where I come from, anybody showing their dick off in a women- only space such as a locker room or public toilet is liable to receive several sharp kicks to the balls, and that’s got me wondering why so many transwomen claim to have been attacked in such places. How do their alleged attackers know for sure that they are transwomen? Most people tend not to walk around with their genitalia on display, even in sex-specific places, so I would be sceptical of claims that they are attacked merely for innocently using the facilities, and more inclined to believe that they deliberately drew attention to themselves, and to their chick-dicks in particular.
Jones has also tweeted, after doing a performance of sex acts for an audience, “Sex work is great!” I don’t know for sure, of course, but it strikes me that Jones may well have led, and still leads, a highly sheltered and privileged life.
Sackbut, and they wonder why women don’t want them in their spaces? Christ on a bike!
Was it Jones who once tweeted something to the effect of ‘If the guy you’ve hooked up with objects once he sees what you’re packing*, just sit on him and rub your dick and balls over his face until he stops struggling and realises it’s fun’**?
Of course, if the man objects too strongly, well he’s transphobic, and if he turns violent (which is wrong, but sort-of understandable, especially if the transwoman tried using force to hold him down) then of course it would be an unprovoked hate crime.
Jones (if it was Jones) later tried to walk it back, claiming it was ‘just a joke’. Well ha-ha-fucking-ha.. It sounded more like another rapey fantasy for Jones’ porn wish-list.
* which suggests to me that Jones is OK with deceiving men in order to bed them.
** and that is advocating plain old sexual assault.
“Decent intentions” – ??? What about the women who like having female only spaces?
I don’t think we are ever going to live in that world you envisage – too many men kill, hurt, bully, humiliate and dismiss women because they like it. Men deny women access to jobs, political power and reproductive health everywhere. It’s systemic and historic.
Until you can stop men exercising power over women, we’re going to need women only spaces.
clamboy, it’s not that he’s sheltered. Jones is a narcissist and autogynephile who shoves objects up his butt for an audience on webcam. “Sex work” is great–and safe–for him. Therefore, sex work is great.

1. NO DICK WAVING IN THE LOCKER ROOM!

Hell, it’s not ok letting it all hang out in the men’s room let alone in the women’s… but you mainly only get that attitude from men.

Zinnia later on suggested a porn plot involving two trans women and a “cis” woman in a locker room.

But if ‘women’s dicks’ are indistinguishable from men’s, as we are required to ignore, how is any threat/intrusion going to be assessed?
We’ll have to have our pronoun labels tattooed on the relevant parts.
Its insane that the Republican fantasy of trans-bathroom predators may actually come true.
