The language of apartheid and race war and annihilation
I’m not normally all “but the children” but it makes me sick with rage that kids—especially black brown & immigrant kids—would hear the President call the countries their families came from “shitholes.”

Can’t wait until we get rid of this shithole president.

There are no words for language like this except for one: Racist. https://t.co/KHLMiiHewh

to speak of whole categories of people as coming from shitholes & other categories as desirables – that’s the language of apartheid and race war and annihilation… the verbal violence invites physical violence — & in this one realm, at least, he knows exactly what he’s doing

Gourevitch knows something about the language of apartheid and race war and annihilation – he wrote that book about the Rwandan genocide.
Trump would be a génocidaire in a heartbeat if conditions were right. He would have no qualms about it.

Immigrants from countries across the globe – including and especially those from Haiti and all parts of Africa – have helped build this country. They should be welcomed and celebrated, not demeaned and insulted.

I know next to nothing about this newsreader, for all I know he can be a shit too (sad, but true, that we now have to worry about that with all men in the public eye, however slightly), but on this he sounds genuine.

Trump and the Duvaliers. Any hole they happen to be in does qualify.
I’m a big fan of Anderson Cooper. I don’t think he is a shit (and he’s gay so even if he is he doesn’t treat women like sex dolls). I first became aware of him in the days after Hurricane Katrina in 2005 – he was reporting on the desperate need for water and became rather distraught.
He’s a child of privilege and enormous wealth – his mother is Gloria Vanderbilt.
I watched the clip. That’s the Anderson Cooper I know of. I’m pretty sure he is genuine.
