Republicans believe in the rule of law?
Ye gods. Trump pretending to be a fan of the rule of law.
You don’t hand matches to an arsonist, and you don’t give power to an angry left-wing mob. Democrats have become too EXTREME and TOO DANGEROUS to govern. Republicans believe in the rule of law – not the rule of the mob. VOTE REPUBLICAN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 7, 2018
The rule of law – says the guy who cheated on his taxes to the tune of half a billion dollars, who uses his presidency to enrich himself contrary to a clause of the Constitution as well as regulations, who lies to all of us every day, who brags of sexual assault, who uses his presidency to enrich his children, who makes all of us pay for his frequent trips to his own golf clubs, who stiffed contractors and abused bankruptcy laws, who has been obstructing justice in plain sight for the entirety of his presidency to date.
He might be telling the truth when he says that Republicans believe in the rule of law, but two points to note are that Trump is not a Republican, he’s an opportunist with no party loyalty, and just because Republicans believe in the rule of law, like Christmas Christians their belief in something does not mean they practise it – except for on special occasions.
He meant the law of the jungle.
This:
Given his previous references to a mob, it doesn’t sound like he’s talking about Democrat politicians being unfit to govern us. It sounds like he’s saying that the Democratic voters can no longer be governed. They’re violent protesters, the lot of them. They must be dealt with by law. Eliminated … somehow. One party.
I don’t think that interpretation isn’t going to be picked up by his supporters because it’s clearly not intended.
He believes in the Golden Rule: he who has the gold rules.
And yes, it’s always a “he”.
Ah yes, he is calling for one party rule, isn’t he. I mean obviously he is, yes, but somehow I didn’t quite think of it in those terms.
Jeezus.
