Follow the money
I keep wondering why Flake doesn’t just break ranks. I hadn’t thought of this.
Follow the money:
All retiring senators like Jeff Flake have multi-million dollar lobbying offers waiting for them.
Republican lobbyists must be welcome in Republican senate offices.
Jeff Flake is preserving his welcome as a lobbyist.

Oh. Of course. The whole reason retired pols are in demand as lobbyists is because they have connections. If they burn the connections, no millions from lobbying.
In short it’s utterly corrupt and money-seeking.
What amazes me is how easily bought so many politicians are. I mean, some of the instances of corrupt behaviour that have come to light over the last few years involve just a few thousand dollars. I not even bend the truth in reports I write for that much, not that anyone has offered. The only thing I can hink is that it’s a numbers game. These people are not just doing an isolated corrupt thing for $5k and risking their reputation. They are constantly doing dozens or probably hundreds of such deals a year, thus raking in serious money through a volume operation. It’s just sickening.
Office holders should be barred from lobbying once they leave office…permanently. Then maybe things could start to clean up.
Damn right.
Maybe go both ways and stop former lobbyists from holding office, too.
