Dead as a doughnut
Don’t worry, it’s just kink, just BDSM, just “rough sex.” Don’t kink-shame the nice man.
A multi-millionaire who left his injured and bleeding partner to die after “rough sex” has been jailed for three years and eight months.
Seeing as how she died, “rough sex” seems just a tad euphemistic.
Natalie Connolly had suffered more than 40 separate injuries, the court heard.
Broadhurst, 40, told a 999 operator he found his partner “dead as a doughnut” at their home in Kinver, Staffordshire, in December 2016.
At least he kept his sense of humor.
Ms Connolly was pronounced dead on 18 December 2016 after Broadhurst called paramedics to their rented home. She died from acute alcohol intoxication and blunt force injuries.
In mitigation, defence Stephen Vullo QC, said Broadhurst, of Wolverley, knew his partner was bleeding but did not think she would come to any harm.
Sure; blunt force trauma never harmed anyone.
Hm, weird. Here’s little old me thinking that if a person is bleeding, they have already been harmed. I guess the rules are just different for the rich.
So Holms, you think money can suspend the rules of biology? ;-)
The rules are just the same, you know. After all, both rich and poor alike are prohibited from sleeping under bridges.
No, see, if it’s “rough sex” that means it’s fine if she’s bleeding. Funny how it always is “she” isn’t it. No, it’s not.
Ophelia, what are you saying? First you say that men aren’t women, now you’re saying that rough sex might be a problem if the woman is hurt? You’re going to get a reputation, you know!
Oh, wait, you’ve already got one, and you’re proud of it…and it’s one reason we all hang around here.
Heh.
I wouldn’t actually say I’m proud of it though. It’s not something anyone should have to be proud of, because it shouldn’t be any kind of struggle. You know? I’m not ashamed of it; that’s as far as I’ll go.
I think Broadhurst got off very lightly. Considering he severely battered an insensibly drunk women to the point that contributed to her death. It also raises questions, for me anyway, around rape or sexual assault, given that being insensibly drunk (she died of alcohol poisoning) there has to be a cloud over the concept of consent to sex, but especially consent to sex that was clearly rougher than the usual she had agreed to in the past. I guess the lesson for other men here is that if you want to rape and beat a women to death, just make sure she is really drunk, paint her as a deviant slut, and you might well get away with it. He’s a danger to all women and should never be allowed near one again.
This case is eerily reminiscent of one earlier this year in which a woman was killed, and a man claimed she choked to death on his exceptionally large penis. Bizarrely, the size of his penis was considered important to the defense; even more bizarrely, he was acquitted. Both cases seem to show depraved indifference to the suffering of a sex partner, and an attitude of “anything goes” once sex is agreed to.

Jeezus.
From the Feminist Current post:
Choking. Oooh yeah, sexy.
Yeeeeeah, I’ve always found causing a partner discomfort, let-alone pain or fear, a turn off. But that’s just vanilla old me.

Subtract the ‘sex’ claim and its no less appalling. What’s all this about ‘finding’ her? She was right where he left her.
