Trump went on meeting right through his nap time
Tillerson says Putin denies hacking the election.
Ok, that settles it, we can all relax now.
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who attended the two-hour-and-fifteen-minute meeting, said it did not focus on the United States moving to punish Russia for the allegations that it hacked and leaked information that would help Trump win the election. Instead, Tillerson said the two leaders discussed “how do we move forward from what may be simply an intractable disagreement at this point” regarding the election-hacking issue.
“The president pressed President Putin on more than one occasion regarding Russian involvement,” Tillerson said. “President Putin denied such involvement, as I think he has in the past.”
Tillerson said the White House was not “dismissing the issue” but wanted to focus on “how do we secure a commitment” that there will not be interference in the future.
Sure sure sure. Take Putin’s word for it and move on. Why not after all?
Tillerson would not say whether Trump flatly told Putin that Russia interfered in the election, saying instead: “He pressed him and then felt like at this point, how do we go forward?”
The meeting lasted much longer than expected. At one point, Trump’s wife entered the room to try to see if it could wrap up soon, but it continued much longer.
“We went another hour [after] she came in to see us, so clearly she failed,” Tillerson said.
What? Why the hell did she do that? Is that normal? What – “Honey, your lunch is getting cold, it’s time to come home now – you can play with Vlad again tomorrow”? Is it normal for spouses of heads of state to try to bring an end to meetings?
That just sounds deranged.
Maybe she was worried that his cognitive issues would be getting worse and more obvious as the time drew out. I expect they probably were.
Or maybe she was curious to see how POTUS was doing as Putin’s cockholster and stayed around to watch Putin finish.
Part of me (the bad part) wants to see that asshole serve his full term: mentally he seems already to be at the point where Reagan was at the end of his presidency. This bad part of me wants to see Tillerson, Pence, Bannon and all having to guard him every hours of the day and invent increasingly preposterous reasons as to why the President hasn’t been seen in public or even hasn’t tweeted for the past six, eight, ten… months.
But it’s the bad part of me, the good part (well, the better part) remembers my grandmother at the end of her life and… no, just no…
What a fucking arrogant, sexist shitbag to put a woman in her place so publicly! I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that the future ex-Mrs Trump’s minders will make sure she doesn’t respond publicly to Tillerson, and that Trump will compound the insult by failing to publicly defend his wife and rebuke his SoS, thereby tacitly endorsing his words.
Fair enough, it was odd her going into the room in the first place, but with the rather clandestine nature of the meeting; no reporters present and no transcript available, there was no need for Tillerson to mention it at all, so his statement was also a very public domination display: ‘Look how alpha I am, I can even slap down the First Lady”.
I couldn’t even imagine George W., let alone Obama, letting a public slur like that from one of his own cabinet go unchallenged, yet it appears to have left Trump un-ruffled. But of course it did, it’s not as though Tillerson was insulting anyone important such as Trump, or, ..err…..no, that’s the entire list since only insults aimed at Donnie rufflle Donnie.
