TIME to world: Trump lied
Trump of the year.

Why doesn’t THE WHOLE WORLD name him GLORIOUS ASCENDED MASTER HUMAN OF THE YEAR every single year? Why, why, WHY??
Meanwhile, TIME itself says excuse us no we didn’t.
The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.

So…why on earth did he tweet that silly lie? Did he simply forget that TIME would see it and point out that he lied? If so, what else is he forgetting? That China too has nukes? That Putin once ran the KGB? That he has grandchildren?
How many of Trump’s fans are going going to see the correction from TIME? How many would believe the correction above Trump’s assertion? They already live in a fact-free bubble fueled by hate and lies. This is just more of the same. I don’t think he “forgot” anything. I think it’s just more faux outrage for his base.
Anyway, to forget anything you have to have known it in the first place. See “nuclear triad.”
Why did he lie? Because it feeds his base with the tasty-but-empty treats they love. Trump may be dumb, but he’s smart enough to know they will gleefully swallow everything he feeds them. And he also knows that TIME’s protests will only confirm for them that the liberal mainstream media is constantly working to make him look bad with their fake news. Remember, these are the same people as the 33% of Alabamans who said they were MORE likely to vote for Roy Moore given the allegations against him.
Right – if you are a true believer, if Trump says 2 and 2 equal 5 and the world asserts it’s 4, then you’ll be that much more committed to rejecting the world. It’s the reinforcement of an echo chamber, making it ever more embarrassing and uncomfortable to exit it due to all the stupidity you’ve had to align yourself with already.
The absurdity is a feature, not a bug.
If Trump knows only one thing, it’s how to keep his con marks hooked.
He tweeted he’s too cool for Time. That’s even better — a line from the movie Catch Me If You Can about the real-life impostor Frank Abagnale Jr.
He’s also too sexy for his hair.
That’s a big if.
This tweet, from Time’s Chief Content Officer:
He follwed that with another, calling Trump’s tall-tataletotal BS’.
