O the disunity
Trump thinks all this is just terrible, because it makes us look Not United.
“I believe it hurts our country terribly, because it shows we’re a divided, mixed-up, not-unified country,” Mr Trump told CNN and CNBC .
Huh. That’s funny, because his campaign was all about how divided and not-unified we are, and also all about making us more so. His whole shtick is Us versus Them. Drain the swamp; the people versus the experts; good people versus bad hombres; real Murkans versus scary immigrants; real voters versus fake voters; Trump versus women he dislikes. His inaugural address was about what a toilet the country is. His tweets are all about the press as enemies of the people and demons persecuting Donald Trump.
It’s just like when Dubya claimed to be a uniter, not a divider, even as he was promoting a very partisan, only my bros, type of politics, where only the “right” sort of people should have rights.
Isn’t ‘he dislikes’ following ‘Trump versus women’ rather redundant?

The Groan: “What took Richard Nixon more than five years Trump has managed to accomplish in the narrow compass of four months.”
He is clearly a man who does not believe in mucking round.

He’s right, you really should be a unified country — like a bundle of sticks that can’t be easily broken. Hey, that’s a nice image! Maybe Trump should adopt it as a logo? Seems like its been used before, but I can’t think where I saw it….
Actually, Steve Watson, I feel like we should become the Untied States. I think this is much too large a country to effectively function as a single democracy. When you don’t know your neighbors, who are hundreds of miles away, and you don’t care about anyone you don’t know, it ceases to be an appropriate governing unit. It may be time we break up into different countries (not a confederation of states; that would be equally impossible at this time, I suspect). But, please, before we do, give me a chance to get out of this red state area I seem to have gotten myself trapped in (a series of bad choices, beginning with one that was not my choice, but that of my father who insisted a 10-year-old girl follow him into hell).
Trump loyalist want nothing to do with uniting a country that supports equality, science, education, and the arts. His supporters want intellectual and physical isolation from the rest of us and most of the ‘brown’ world.
