He thought it was very, very unfair
President Donald Trump said in a new interview Friday that persecuted Christians will be given priority over other refugees seeking to enter the United States, saying they have been “horribly treated.”
Speaking with the Christian Broadcasting Network, Trump said that it had been “impossible, or at least very tough” for Syrian Christians to enter the United States.
“If you were a Muslim you could come in, but if you were a Christian, it was almost impossible and the reason that was so unfair — everybody was persecuted, in all fairness — but they were chopping off the heads of everybody but more so the Christians. And I thought it was very, very unfair. So we are going to help them.”
Trump did not name a reason or offer any evidence about why the agencies that vet refugees, including the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department, would have prioritized Muslim refugees over Christians.
Don’t be silly: it’s because they’re all Sekrit Mooslims.
Also on Friday, Trump signed an executive order freezing refugee applications from seven Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East and Africa, including Syria. It’s unclear how his pledge to help persecuted Christians from those countries will accord with that plan.
The United States admitted a record number of 38,901 Muslim refugees in 2016, according to a study conducted by Pew. But nearly the same number of Christians, 37,521 were also admitted.
What are you gonna trust, Pew or Trump’s imagination?
So, by his reasoning the Yazidis will be right at the top of the list as they have been persecuted even more so than Christians (crickets)
Trump can’t help it that he has all these well-formed opinions about weighty matters, which he’s been researching for years on end. This is how life is for serious thinkers like him. It’s why he’s devoted his life to academia and public service.
Just like his inauguration – the numbers are what he says they are, because he says it is so. And that’s that. Who are you to question Donald J. Trump, who is, like, a smart person, who has a very good brain, and who has very good words? Huh? Can you say that YOU are, like, a smart person, who has a very good brain, and who has very good words? What? You can? Oh, but Trump…his brain is bigger. His words are bigger. His smart is bigger. His ego is bigger…well, that last one, anyway.
The last paragraph of the 1st quote makes it sound like Muslims might have had priority. I *think* that is just poor phrasing.
Does anyone know what criteria were use to decide who were let in & if any ethnic or religious groups were let in in disproportionate numbers?
The criteria was: what Muslim majority nations aren’t major “friends” of the US (so pretty much all the 9/11 highjacker states are on the “they’re cool” list).
NY Daily News is reporting that the executive order did a lot more than freeze refugee applications.. They say already-issued visas and green cards for people from those countries have been suspended, with travellers who live here legally actually being barred from re-entering the country. This is happening right now, not theoretical.

BKiS @5: Simpler than that – which countries does Trump have financial interests in?

Yes, I’ve seen a list of the exceptions, and they are all places with Big Trump Biz connections.
