Gunman…multiple…domestic…saddened…pray…
I guess it’s going to be every day now, and soon it will be several times a day. It will stop being reported, because it’s too commonplace and there’s too much of it.
At least four people were killed Tuesday morning in Northern California when a gunman shooting at random struck at multiple locations, targeting an elementary school and a woman driving her children to school, authorities said…Ten people were injured and taken to area hospitals, including at least two children…Police received “multiple 911 calls of multiple different shooting sites, including the elementary school” in Rancho Tehama Reserve…While details about what led up to the gunfire remained unclear, Johnston said authorities were told by neighbors that “there was a domestic violence incident” involving the suspected attacker…After the shooting, Johnston said police recovered a semiautomatic rifle and two handguns believed to be used by the shooter…Gov. Jerry Brown (D) said in a statement that he and his wife were “saddened to hear about today’s violence in Tehama County, which shockingly involved schoolchildren…” Vice President Pence posted in a message on Twitter that the White House would monitor the situation, provide federal support and “pray for comfort & healing for all impacted.”…After the gunfire, worried parents were trying to get to their children at the school…
One thing we do know for sure, though: it’s too soon to talk about gun control.
And I don’t think we’ll have too long to wait before those folks who claimed Sandy Hook was faked will be coming forward to claim this one also as a conspiracy to force gun control.
People shouldn’t be afraid to walk the streets. That’s what we have police, a military, and other support people for. But we are so crazy with guns and rage…why can’t these people be content with shooting out their TV?
And so far, I’ve managed to type this through the blinding rage I am feeling at the horrors that are being perpetrated by people who feel entitled, and are angry because other people don’t realize that, and insist on taking up their own space in the world. I lay most of this at Trump’s feet, but then, Trump is the result of the very people that are stocking up guns, so I guess it’s sort of a circle…and truly, a vicious circle.
To the point where they may stop reporting it. Insane, but probably true.
Mass homcides, sexual assault, shit happens. There’s nothing to do about it. But there is. It’s called talking to people, educating people, implementing administrative and engineering controls.
Yeah, the “saddened” part leaped out at me, too. I don’t care if you’re saddened Gov. Brown (D), you’re in a position to do something about it and as far as I can tell, you are not. Instead of writing yourself into the narrative as the main subject, why not start protesting about gun ownership?
At least it gives Pence something to pray about, which is obviously the main thing.
Per CNN:
Johnston said the gunman had “prior contacts with law enforcement.” In January the man was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon in a case that involved the neighbor who died Tuesday, Johnston said.
Johnston added that the woman had a restraining order against the shooter.
Okay, screw it. I’m abandoning my long-standing opposition to racial profiling. If you’re a white man, and you get into any violent altercation with a woman, you get a life sentence, no parole.
Scratch a mass shooter, and you’ll find misogyny. You often don’t have to go very deep.
