Guest post: As history books have showed
Originally a comment poem by Lady Mondegreen on Brothas from anotha motha.
The world has held great heroes
As history books have showed
But never a name to go down in fame
Compared with that of Toad Trump.
The clever men at Oxford
Know all that there is to be knowed
But they none of them know one half so much
As intelligent Mr. Toad Trump.
Tangent: It’s been about 50 years since I read WitW. Surely that line about Oxford has to be a sly reference to the legendary Jowett?
*blush* Thanks, but the credit really should go to Kenneth Grahame. I just substituted the names. :)
(To the uninitiated: if you haven’t read The Wind in the Willows, do yourself a favor and read it now.)
