Disgrace
Trump has been giving a talk at the National Rifle Association’s annual meeting. In that talk – on camera, with reporters present – he called Senator Warren “Pocahontas” again.
I am so sick of this trashy, vulgar, nasty, schoolyard-bully man.
Trump calling Warren Pocahontas is racist. We kind of gloss over it at this point. But this is the president being racist.

At NRA, Trump looks to 2020: "It may be Pocahontas." A derogatory, dismissive reference to Sen. Warren.

Trump speculates about Dem contenders in 2020, refers to Elizabeth Warren as "Pocahontas…" reprising insult for MA Sen from campaign.

Warren isn’t the gimme that Hillary was (and as has been pointed out multiple times she was far more popular than that disgusting monster); there’s no decades long smear campaign, e-mails, no Benghazi. Not sure how saying racist shit furthers his presumed re-election campaign.
As I recall, Trump used that name to mock Warren for (in his view) making a false claim to Native American ancestry. Not a great joke, but not racist either.

Using a name like Pocahontas to refer to someone’s ancestry (or claims thereof) is inherently racist.
The smears and Benghazis will be delivered on cue. Will the Stein/Bernie crowd be as credulous as they were in ’16?
The ‘left’ of France has already been claiming that Macron and Le Pen are indistinguishable, and calling for abstaining from the vote.
As far as I can see so far, yes. There is still a very strong denial in them that Hillary would be any different than Trump. Yes, she had baggage. Yes, she was flawed and imperfect. But if Sanders or Stein had gotten the nomination, Trump would have found their baggage, too, and displayed their unmentionables in full view of the public. And he would make up whatever he felt like, which he did with Hillary.
His job was merely made easier by the fact that portions of the left had already dismissed Hillary as too hopelessly flawed and awful to be a suitable president. The message seemed to be that all missteps of Obama’s administration were directly the result of Hillary; at times, they seemed willing to turn him into a puppet of her in order to spew the bile and hatred of Hillary that has been building up for more than two decades.
I’m reminded of Spaceballs: Evil will always triumph because Good is dumb.
#2 David Evans, calling *anyone* Pocahontas is racist toward Native Americans. Anything Warren did or didn’t do is irrelevant.
^ That. It’s so racist it makes the brain hurt. It’s racist in multiple ways – it reduces the category of Native American women to one historical person; it makes a joke of invasion, occupation and genocide; it’s contemptuous and dismissive; it’s intended to incite the audience to new heights of racism.
And all that’s before we even get to his hostile contempt for Warren.
Hint: if it were Al Franken (say) who mistakenly said he had Native American ancestors, it wouldn’t be ok for Trump to call him “Tonto.”
